Just got back from the Philippines. I got my “Affidavit in Lieu of Certificate of Legal Capacity to Contract Marriage” from the Embassy. We applied for our marriage license and it will be ready on June 5. I am going back on June 8 and we are planning a civil wedding on June 11.  After we get the Government Certified Marriage Certificate I will file our CR-1 and start the long wait...again.

I’m sorry things didn’t work out with the K1...the good news is that you’ll be married soon and that’s one step closer to getting Rose and her family here! I’m getting close to the one year mark here with no idea how much longer the wait will be

Well... Paul and I got married on Saturday!! :D

Obviously, we intended on getting legally married prior to our traditional wedding, which isn't until October. But it was still spontaneous. We got the marriage license pretty fast on Friday and I joked that we could technically get married over the weekend if we wanted to. Turned out we found someone who would do it the very next day, so my parents joined us at the local botanical gardens in town and we did it! I cried like a baby LOL

I know we still have a long road ahead of us before all of this is behind us (AOS still to go), but something about being tied to one another this way gives us so much relief. We gave ourselves the long weekend to enjoy it... but now it's back to work LOL lots of office visits we'll need to do during the week and AOS paperwork to file. I will be so glad when we get past this next hurdle.

Side note/funny story: apparently a few other folks were getting married on Saturday at the same gardens we were at, and we kept being mistaken for the wrong wedding party. "Are you here for the wedding?" ... "Yes!" .... *wrong bride & groom*.

Congratulations on ur wedding!!

Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone from Germany had any information on how long the visa will take after the interview? My interview is scheduled for June 14th...just trying to get a guestimate for a time frame here :)

Congratulations to your interview appointment!!:jest:

My interview was on a Monday and the visa was in the mail the following Tuesday. I guess it would have been there earlier but it was the Easter Holiday-weekend. I´ll keep my fingers crossed for you!!

We have filed for the marriage license which will be ready on June 5.  I am going back to the Philippines on June 8 and the wedding is scheduled for June 11.  After that we will wait on the marriage certificate and I will file the CR-1.  Then the waiting game starts.  At least we will be married and I would have established the step father relationship with the kids.

Omg so sorry to hear that bro. Its mean k1 didn work out’?And did they reject in interview!?

Yes.  We were refused after the interview when it was determined that the petitioner (me) failed to disclose information in the petition.  I had an arrest in 1990 that was dropped and later expunged.  I did not read the instructions as well as I should have.  If I checked "yes" instead of "no" they would be here with me right now.  It is all on me.
