How can I be successful in getting a K1 visa for my boyfriend in Ghana? How do I go about the whole process?  I am in the process of getting a divorce from my husband of 7 yrs.

Thanks

Several issues here. For a K1, you have to be free and available to marry. You don's seem to be yet. Correct?

How many times have you seen your boyfriend.? Ghana is a high fraud country with many fake documents, relationships etc...so you will have a high bar to overcome.

Getting a divorce, then starting on a new relationship might be a red flag too....

That is a huge question that no one can answer in a post.

Start with selecting the "Guides" menu tab here, and start reviewing the K1 visa requirements.

Then start reviewing the forms and instructions for K1 visa on the USCIS web site.

You can't file until your divorce is final.

Thanks NYCruiser.

you are right am not free to marry yet and am not planning to file this year. Maybe late next year or early 2020. To answer your question I have seen him once and I plan on seeing him maybe 2 or 3 times before starting the process. We both went to the same high school in Ghana tho. I just want to be sure that I have all the necessary tools to get it done once and for all

Very nice to hear. How do you feel about Marriage, then filing for a CR1 rather than a K1. Reason from what I have seen in the forums, Ghana is a very hard Embassy to get K1. They need a lot of time etc spend by the USC with the Ghana citizen.

Not a bad idea. I can look into that as well. Thanks a lot for your insight.
