Hello,

I am in the process of completing my I-130 application and was gathering the documents.

I just wanted some advice on what I have so far and if you can recommend things to add.

Also, my husband is a US citizen through his parents. He was born in Kenya and they've lost

his birth certificate so is a copy of the passport (all pages inside of it) sufficient?

1.  Personal check in the amount of $535 for I-130 filing fee.

2.  Completed and signed form G-1145.

3.  Two (2) passport style photos of petitioner.

4.  Two (2) passport style photos of beneficiary.

5.  Completed and signed form I-130, petition for spouse

6.  Completed and signed from I-130a, Supplemental Information for Spouse Beneficiary.

7.  Copy of petitioner’s passport to establish citizenship.

8.  Copy of our marriage certificate.

9.  Evidence of bona fide marriage:

a) Statements from both joint bank accounts

b) Photographs with families

It has been a couple of years since I did the I-130 for my wife but according to the instructions

 a copy of your husband passport as long as it is a U.S passport should be good for proof of Us citizenship

  1. What documents do you need to show that you are a U.S. citizen? A. A copy of your birth certificate, issued by a civil registrar, vital statistics office, or other civil authority showing that you were born in the United States;
  2. B. A copy of your naturalization certificate or certificate of citizenship issued by USCIS or the former Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS);
  3. C. A copy of Form FS-240, Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA), issued by a U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate;
  4. D. A copy of your unexpired U.S. passport; or
  5. E. An original statement from a U.S. consular officer verifying that you are a U.S. citizen with a valid passport.
  6.

If you do not have any of the above documents and you were born in the United States, see the What if an official document is not available section of these Instructions.
