question about visa

My fiancé who lives in the Philippines applied for a tourist visa last year and was denied. We are concerned that this could be a red flag for our K-1 visa.

We have sent in our petition with all the requirements for the visa. 

We have the same religious beliefs, same interests etc. etc.

Can anyone tell us if this could be a problem for us to get our fiancé visa?

Most tourist visa denials from there are for weak ties to their home country.  If that is the case here, it will not affect the K-1 since K-1s are meant to allow immigrant intent.

Registered Nurse- Retired- I practiced in the areas of Labor & Delivery, Home Health, Adolescent Psych, & Adult Psych.

IT Professional- Retired- Web Site Design, Hardware Maintenance, Compound Pharmacy Software Trainer, On-site go live support, Database Manager, App Designer.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

No. I was denied for my tourist visa once and had no issue with my K1. As long as you guys are a legit relationship and provide all the info USCIS wants you guys are fine.

8/14/17 --- AOS sent I-485, I-765, I-131

8/16/17 --- AOS Packet received Chicago USCIS Day 0

8/21/17  --- Received email & text notification 

8/23/17  --- Received hard copy of NOA  

9/01/17  --- Biometrics letter notice for I-485 & I-765 & I-131  

9/11/17  --- Biometrics Appointment Done

10/17/17 - Case Is Ready To Be Scheduled For An Interview

11/30/2017 - EAD/AP Approved
12/01/2017 - Card in Production
12/05/2017 - Received Approval Notice in the Mail
12/06//2017 - Card Mailed (Priority Mail) to Me
12/07/2017 - Card Received 

1/19/18  --- Interview Date 2/21

2/21/18  ---  Approved on the Spot

  • 1 hour after the interview received uscis mobile app alert
  • Status changed from "Interview is scheduled" to "New Card Is Being Produced

2/26/18  --- Received hard copy of NOA for the Green Card

2/26/18  --- USCIS Mobile Status changed to "Card was mailed to me"

2/28/18 --- Permanent Resident/Green Card received :jest:

It is depends on why she get denie and what is her answer during the tourist visa interview. If she lied during the previous interview, it might affect your k-1, if just not strong ties it will not affect your K-1 at all

Well we did not even no each other when the tourist visa was applied for and I know for a fact there was no lies told to get this visa.
