Hi,

In January 2017 I changed my status from J1 to B2 for 6 months. My case was approved after almost 5 months then I wanted to extend my status for an other 4 months. I did that in July 2017 since that my case has been still pending. I sent them ticket back home, I had enough money for my expenses and also I left the country on the day what I wrote in my application. I am getting nervous why it takes so long. Anybody same experience?

Am I not understanding something - you applied to extend B2 status but you also say you left the country? How can you extend a status if you don’t have one anymore if you left? Where are you now?

First of all I had J1 visa then I changed my status to b2. I got approved and then I decided to extend b2 for a first time (just for 4 months) My application for extension of b2 has been pending since July 2017. I did everything from US and  I came back to Czech Republic in Dec 2017 because in form i-539 I said I want to stay only until Dec 2017. I am just not sure why it takes so long.

Why does it matter/do you care? You have already left the US.

As far as I know, someone may correct me if I’m wrong, the application to extend status would have been abandoned when you left the US. If for some reason you can’t use ESTA, you would need to apply for a B visa through a consulate now if you want to visit again (I’m assuming that the B status you changed to did not allow for multiple entry over a fixed period of time or you wouldn’t be asking this in the first place).
