Hi everyone. I just want to say congratulations to everyone that has been approved recently. I have been so stressed out about my own frustrating situation that I failed to congratulate you all. So I’m sorry for that. Thank you also for supporting me through this. I am still going through the NOA2 process but knowing that there are so many friendly, loving people on this thread makes it a little easier for me. It’s nice that you haven’t abandoned us stragglers either.

I have a question that’s been asked a bazillion times no doubt. What’s everyone’s experience in regards to how long it takes to receive a hard copy of the RFE in the post? I know of the general time frame that USCIS gives but obviously we are all aware that they don’t even know what time frame that is.

No answer for you, but just wanted to say that I still come and check for your posts. Not gone, just quiet really. There's a ton of us waiting to be able to cheer for you two <3

So the congressman that contacted USCIS has just forwarded us a copy of the RFE. We need to send off my SOs birth certificate, which we knew we would, and evidence of us meeting within the last two years. Easy peasy.

Woo! Get that in the post quick, your approval will soon follow!

Hi VJ folks, after waiting 245 days with no word from USCIS my fiancee (Petitioner ) decided to contact the congressman or state house representative or local house representative, so please anyone who can help us on how to contact them will be very appreciated.

I believe @John & Rose went through all of this
John, perhaps you can shed some light for those waiting on what steps you took? :D

Certainly.  @AbSa, google your congressman's name.  On his site there will be a link to "Help with another Governmental Agency".  Click on that link and fill out the form.  You will need to print, sign and fax back your permission to have them look into your case.  Once that is done you should get an email stating that they received your inquiry.  There are also phone numbers on their site.  You can call a local office and set up an appointment to talk to someone.  Do everything you can.  Do the online inquiry at USCIS.  Call USCIS.  Do an online inquiry with the CIS Ombudsman.  I got the best answers from them, even better than the congressional inquiries (I had a few of those).

https://www.dhs.gov/case-assistance

The Ombudsman provides an impartial and independent perspective to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in an attempt to resolve problems with pending cases. The Ombudsman does not have the authority to make or change USCIS decisions.

ohh ! Thank you sooo much Sir I really appreciate this, will try every available and legal option just to clarify our pending case.

Yes.  Don't be shy about it.  This is your life.  I even got scolded and told not to do another inquiry for 45 days.  I did another inquiry the next day.  Our NOA2 took 275 days but there was no update online and I got the actual letter a week later.  I still remember seeing that envelope in Informed Delivery (get that if you dont have it).

PHILIPPINES ONLY!!!  CFO (Commission on Filipinos Overseas) INFO - Can't leave home without it!

PDOS (Pre-Departure Registration and Orientation Seminar) is for ages 20-59.  Peer Counseling is for 13-19 years of age.

It is required to have the visa in their passport for PDOS and Peer Counseling.

GCP (Guidance and Counseling Program) is for K-1 Fiancee and IR/CR-1 spouse ONLY.

Bit of advice really, we have a scanned copy of the RFE provided to us by the Congressman, not the hard copy. Should we wait until we receive the hard copy to return the evidence (which is a lot and would require a big envelope),  or would it be sufficient to send this stuff back with the scanned copy of the RFE

I believe you MUST return your RFE with the envelope and original letter it was sent in. That's the only way USCIS keeps track of your stuff.
I might be wrong but I believe that is why they don't tell you what the RFE is over the phone-- so people don't reply without the original letter.

I understand their reasoning, which is why I thought to ask before assuming. It’s hard to resist because we have the complete RFE (sans envelope). But we won’t risk it.
