Hi Everybody!
Well, sadly, RFE came through. August 21st filer. We are super bummed about it. Just looking for some insight, who else has received one? Does anyone know how long it extends the process by? My fiance and I have a ton of evidence of being together and of our relationship so I'm not sure what is needed. Will a letter come in the mail explaining what they're looking for?

^ This! And more often than not, it is for something really small like a passport photo or copy of TOS for an online dating website. Those kind of RFEs are often processed in a week or so.

Don't worry -- it's actually (somewhat) good news: they've touched your case and approval is most likely just around the corner once you mail back whatever they ask for. :)

WRONG ATTITUDE!!!!   RFEs are good.

Depends on what the RFE is for, for someone who is given an RFE for something they don’t have it’s not so good 😊, that has been happening a lot on here lately.

OP it will say exactly what you need to provide and how long you have in order to get it back to them. Make sure you provide exactly what they ask for even if it sounds redundant and don’t leave it to the last minute to send.

I haven't seen much of that.  They should have everything that was supposed to be included in the original petition.  I haven't seen may requests for anything that wasn't supposed to be included.

Yeah, far too often people have the wrong attitude about an RFE.  9 times out of 10 it's something super easy, in some cases it's even asking for something you already sent!  Just give them what they want and it's all good.  The extra time sucks, but you've waited this long.  No stress, no worries!

No I meant the trend in the past few weeks for getting an rfe for a divorce certificate they didn’t have as it turned out they were still married to the first spouse or thought that it wasn’t areal wedding the first time.

LOL...yes, that can be a problem.  I know of a few people here who are already married and trying to do the K-1.  They started the process and then got married.  I guess we can never rule out those situations...

WRONG ATTITUDE!!!!   RFEs are good.  It means your petition has been reviewed.  Generally it is about a week to approval after a satisfactory answer.  This is the next best thing to an approval.  Smile.  Generally the questions are an easy fix.  I just got an RFE earlier this week.  It was for additional court paperwork for my fiancée's annulment and proof that we met in the past two years.  Easy peasy.  Just wait for the letter and respond.  Many times it is a simple checkmark that was missed.  Congratulations.  This is actually good news.

Did you include that information in your petition when you sent it out and they asked for it again or had you not sent that? I’m just curious because if you had sent it with the petition why on earth does USCIS need it again if it’s already there?

Man, I’m sorry but I just don’t buy that excuse. People who say stuff like that are just trying to cheat the system hoping they will overlook that and they don’t have to go through the trouble of getting the paperwork.

The court documents were new.  We sent the CENOMAR but not the annulment.  The meeting info was almost the same as was sent but I included new passport stamps and picture from two trips I made after I filed.

There have been a number of requests for info already sent.  I believe the consensus is that USCIS sends RFEs to help improve their numbers a little.  In my case it was 260 days before we got the RFE.  We had numerous inquiries so it may partially just be a way to make me shut up.  Either way, I do agree that we should have included the annulment court documents.  That was my bad.

You should not really worry. Just make sure to send what they are asking you for and go back to the path of waiting. I saw of people getting RFE's and and getting their case approved in time, so don't worry about it!
