What are my options?

Hi all.

 

I am a 26 year old from Malta that has a BSc. in an IT subject from a UK university and 3+ experience.

 

What are my options for a work visa or greencard?

Do you have an American employer who is willing to sponsor you for either? If you don't, find one. Without an employer you have no options.

If they don’t can the green card lottery enter it in October.

other than that or a job offer from a company that can offer work visa sponsorship, your options seem very limited.

1. Find work with a multinational company in Europe that has offices in USA. After working there (at least 1 year) they could transfer you to their US offices if they need someone with your skills there (though there are plenty of people they can hire for IT, so it has to be something specific).

 

2. Get a master degree in the US, then find work in the US; if you are good someone could sponsor your work visa (though there is a lottery) or work based green card (it could take 5 years because there is a queue). 

 

There are plenty of people in the US with IT bachelor. It all comes to your expertise. There is more demand for people with Masters in specific areas.
