If I were you I will call them as soon as my case is transferred from NVC to the embassy to get a feel how things are going workout. You might be lucky. You loose nothing trying so, give them a call.

Yeah, we’ll start calling after a month or so, or if we get confirmation that the embassy has received the case.

You need at least 5 working days for your medical to get couriered to the embassy, and around 2 weeks to get your passport back with the visa and packet. I'm the US petitioner. My fiancé and I played it safe and left 2 weeks between medical and interview JUST in case, by some act of God, that medical results didn't arrive in time, and potentially avoid more delays.

It's always better to leave more breathing room than less when it comes to all this.

@madelaine, Hi I have a question about the DS-160 form, on the question where it asked you to list visits to America, the form says "list all" however I read somewhere that the last 5 would be enough, I would be interested in what you and others did on your forms. thanks

I can't really help with this question as we've each only made 2 visits back and forth. But I'd say include it all. May seem more questionable if you don't, considering they usually have the information in front of them.

We got our case number yesterday after calling every day this week!

NOA2 was 3/21

NVC case# 4/6

I just want to double check cause from reading on here it seems like people are putting their NVC case numbers in the DS-160, but when I fill it out the side note reads:

Your application receipt/petition number was given to you by the Department of Homeland Security’s United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) after you filed your petition application at a USCIS Service Center. The application receipt/petition number is 13 characters long and the first three characters are letters.

which makes it seem to me like its the WAC they're after?

The number is one and the same between case number and application receipt/petition number. As they say it 13 characters long with the first three characters are letters that signify what Embassy it's attached to. Use the case number for completing the DS-160.

So is the WAC though.. did you submit yours yet?

DS-160 requires the case number that NVC assigns. From this point forward, its rare that you are asked for the WAC#.

Right? Unless people got their NVC numbers from the USCIS ;) I think the reason for the confusion is some people say the WAC is ”dead” after you reach NVC. But from the phrasing in the DS-160, which is clearly post NVC, it really does have this brief revival I guess.

I'm looking up and down through the document for the DS-160 and I am at a lost where it's asking for "number" either WAC or Case Number. Can you enlighten me please to where it is located. Thanks.

Fill in the latest trip then gong backward. When you have exhausted all the entries for that question then just move on. If you wan, list them on a separate sheet of paper and bring that to the interview but don't offer it unless asked. Having it ready will cut down on having to use your memory or stumbling when answering the question.

Thanks, it is difficult to know what to do so as to get everything right the first time and satisfy the Embassy.

It's under the travel section, where you have to provide the purpose of your trip. Select K visa, then specify that it's K1 and they ask you for application receipt/petition number. Again, the note for that section reads

Help: Application Receipt/Petition Number

Your application receipt/petition number was given to you by the Department of Homeland Security’s United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) after you filed your petition application at a USCIS Service Center. The application receipt/petition number is 13 characters long and the first three characters are letters.

I’m not really following. I replied to @ML915’s post that you quoted just above mine. Not sure in where exactly in the DS-160 that part came up. But yes, like you said it is asking for a number that is 13 characters long and where the first three characters are letters. It does not say that those letters signify any embassy, as far as I recall? It does however say that’s the number you received when you your application with the USCIS. Therefore, I put the WAC there.

You answered the question correctly. The confusion as I see it is that both numbers, USCIS & NVC numbers are the same machinations. Three letters followed by 10 numbers. Confusing at best.
