Multi obrigada!!

We just got the received info today, so I'm calling everyday now to check the number. Let's hope it goes fast, I really want a interview spot still in May!

Have you already done everything, ds160, doctor appointment, interview and fee??

I hope it goes fast for you also!! We just officially submitted our DS160 today, as well as scheduled the interview. Our interview date is May 29th. There were still time slots showing for May 29th (and there is also the option of May 30th). Hopefully you can get in one of those spots.

As far as the doctor appointments, my fiancé received the email / information from the Rio doctor today outlining everything that is required. So, we will hopefully have the medical stuff situated by Monday.

Hi everybody,

I am posting the following question here in our group as well since I am not having much luck getting a speedy answer out in the general forum.

I am currently busy filling out the DS-160 and got stumped by two questions or section that I am not sure how to proceed on. Under the Family section, there are two further subsections called 'Relatives' and 'Fiancé/Fiancée' respectively.

To understand my confusion with these seemingly easy questions, a bit of background is necessary.

We are a same-sex couple, both living and working in Seoul, South Korea. He is an American (petitioner) and I am South African (beneficiary). We are both planning to move to the US later this year. We know we will face a few unique challenges with regards to the affidavit of support and proof of the USC's intent to re-establish domicile. We have a co-sponsor, a place to live rent-free for a year or for as long as we need, and a well-thought-out plan to secure ourselves financially. Usually, when people file for K1 visas the USC is in the United States and therefore the following questions would be easy to answer.

My questions:

1. Under Relatives subsection is the question:

Do you have any immediate relatives, not including parents, in the United States? (You have to click YES or NO). I opted to click YES. Is this right, even though my fiance is not physically present in the US right now? Your fiancé  is not a relative. A relative is someone who comes from you're blood line or your married to. So your answer is NO unless you have relatives living in the States.

2. Under the Fiancé/Fiancée subsection, I have to fill out his address. Which address do I fill out? The one where we will live for the first year of marriage in the States? Or the one we live at right now in Korea? Korea

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Let me also tag some people who seem to have gone through the same thing: @Bryonym  @T+E

Also, Here is a good idea how to go about completing the DS160 https://www.path2usa.com/us-visa-application-form-ds-160  Here is a website that goes into detail on how to complete the DS-160 https://www.***removed***/visas/ds-160-usa-visa-form-guide.html Substitute where it says ***removed*** with i.m.m.i.h.e.l.p dot com also remove the "." between the letters. They don't like people to bring up another website might because it's competition. :D

I’m confused 😐

when we were doing the DS 160, on the side instructions it said that a fiancé/ fiancée was considered an immediate relative. So we put my information there 🤦🏼‍♀️

I answered with the Webster Dictionary meaning of the word "relative". Since you quoted me I got a copy of the DS-160 and sure enough the dingbats included the fiancé/fiancée as a relative. It goes to show you that you can't be logical when filling these forms.  I stand corrected. Thank you for pointing that out.

@J&B see above. My mistake. Also the address they are asking for is the "Home" address. Choose which is the "home' address and use it.

I feel like my brain is going burst. I have exhausted all my capabilities of logic and comprehension🤯 at this point.

I have researched and researched about every minute thing and still feel so uncertain of my answers, choices, steps, etc. I just realized that we are not filing for an “immigrant” visa, even though everything else I have dealt with until now recognized k1 as an immigrant visa. Apparently Once it is at consulate stage K1’s are considered  “non immigrant visas”, which explains why I couldn’t locate where to go next. As if I was going in circles.  I feel like a jack ### asking every little thing but it just feels so uncertain as if I was walking on quick sand and I really don’t want to drown. 😂😂😂

Happy Friday everyone! We are still hangin’ in there - the NVC sent our case to Ghana on April 3.  Now we’re in limbo - waiting to receive “Packet 3” from the embassy (which never comes for some couples 😫) and also waiting for appointments to open up online (currently no interview appointments available!). I’ll admit I was on the verge of tears after learning that there were no appointments available, but I’m working through it,  and we’ll keep checking 🙂.  Have a good weekend, all!

I know the frustration you feel. Over in the Philippine section we have a fellow (I did have a current website but it's old at this time) by the name of Hank and he has developed a website with step by step instructions with links to all forms needed for the interview. So it makes it easy. Others may have something like that but I have never run into such a thing with other Embassy's involved.

Just do the best you can. The CO has seen it all before so your mistake will have been created by someone else before you.  The good thing about the DS-160 is if the CO has a question they can change your answer if confusion caused you to state something that is not necessary correct.  This for has changed a great deal when we had to fill it out. It had replaced 3 other documents and combined all the information into one for the DS-160. At one time when you pushed the submit button you could not go back and change any of your answers. The created a lot havoc so they found that the needed to open it back up for remodes.

Good luck with your interview.

Hopefully you get it soon! Does it come email or mail? I'm surprised there's no interviews available. I'm still waiting for NVC to send ours off. Hopefully next week :)

Hope so too! Some couples got it by email within 1-2 months, and one couple has been waiting four months 😒.  I’m just hoping for the best - I’ll give it 4-6 weeks before I start harassing the embassy.   Apparently they release interview dates in batches, and we just have to wait. As they say, TIA (this is Africa)!

Invoice ID is not used for anything.

The important item is the Case Number(CN) which is three letters followed by ten digits (numbers). The ten numbers will help you to know when the National Visa Center created the case. If your case number is CDJ2001747007, your case has been assigned to the embassy in Ciudad Juarez and 2001 is the year in which the USCIS forwarded your case to the National Visa Center. The number shows that your case was created on September 4, 2001, the 247th day of the year 2001 and the Julian date is 500 plus 747. The last three digits of your case number, 007 shows that your case is the seventh case that was created for Ciudad Juarez, on September 4, 2001 and the case number assigned to you will help your overseas consular section to find your case. You use the CN at ceac to follow the status of your case. Why the agent on the phone told you that but his information was wrong.

Embassy's are weird in their use of Packets. Most times a P3 is the information and what documents are needed for the interview. P4 usually is the reply to the Embassy with supporting documents that were requested in P3. But there is a lot of ambiguity between Embassy's and each seems to call one step different from another Embassy. Just ignore the nomenclature for the packets.

I can't tell you what the next steps are because your profile needs updating to reflect your country. Go to the top right of this page select your name>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Once I know the country then I posible can help you with the next steps. But if you read some of my most recent post where others have asked the same question I give three area for you to visit. I believe yesterday was the day I responded to two couples on "what do I do next"?

@Greenbaum you’re awesome!!! Thanks much for all info. I’m from india. So I need info for india. I tried to find info for india on here, it’s either out dated or not much info.

I think it doesn't apply for our cases :)

Hey guys, I have two questions about I134.

1. Do you put the A number that comes on your NOA2 for your fiancee in Part 2 #4?

2. On Part 3 "Dependent Information", do you put your fiancee?

Thanks guys for your contributions and help.
