Hi, how long it took between received and case number?

Do you mind telling me me dates available for interview when you get to that point? I really would like to know if there is still spots for may... :pop:

Oi Ana e Jordan,

Ours took exactly two weeks for NVC to receive our case. Then, it took 9 working days to get the case number. I called at the 2 week mark (that's when we first learned they had received it) and then I called daily for the next 8 days. Unfortunately, calling didn't help, as they just continually told me it wasn't assigned yet. haha. On the 9th day, however, I received an email from the NVC at 12:04 pm while I was at work informing me that we had our case number assigned. Thank goodness, as I didn't have to call again that night for once. :)

It seemed to take us longer for the case number after it was received. We were the electronic version, #5, which you will be too since we are the same embassy. However, the good news is, once we got the number, it showed in transit the same day. And, it was "Ready" at Rio embassy the next day (today!). So, if you end up waiting a while on the case number, at least take comfort in knowing your case will go very quickly (almost instantly) to Rio.

Lastly, as far as interview time slots, yes, there are two days in May still.... May 29th and May 30th.

Boa sorte!!

I called the NVC today and was told that my case is a PIVOT processed case.  My fiance is from the UK/ London.  I'm wondering if any other UK folks are PIVOT cases?  Also, has anyone experienced getting a case number much sooner than eight weeks.  I know they are taking much longer than the other cases to get a case number assigned.  Any information would be helpful.  Thank you!

It took about 16 days from my NOA2 to get my case number. For Mumbai, there is only a packet 4 and which my fiance hasn't received yet. They usually send it by mail, I've read on this site that some people don't receive it by mail so you can email ustraveldocs and they will email it to you. You should be able to find the packet 4 on this site if you want to get a head start.

Packet 4? Ha, that’s news. I’ve been reading that fiancés are usually getting packet 3 but packet 4 must be for Mumbai consulate. I jsut got case number today. I’ll look for packet 4 here. Thanks! Has your fiancé scheduled interview yet or no? And is he flying to Mumbai to get medical?

@Greenbaum I received my case number and invoice Id today. Forgot to ask NvC but what is invoice Id used for? Also, The guy on phone said that case number cannot be tracked online at ceac website cuz that’s for some consular status tracking. I’m also confused cuz I read package 3 is usually sent but someone just told me it’s package 4 at my embassy. What is going on? After receiving case number what’s our next step?

I'm sure you'll be fine. If the relationship is real, they'll know it. I just think there's a lot of fraud to get into the USA so the numbers of denials are going to be high anywhere you look.

That's just my perception.

Definitely, I don't think we have nothing to worry about! A scam couple would never be in here sharing this nerve-wrecking wait :dead:

No never! They only require original of the beneficiary - if they required that of me I'd fly there lol as I have the original one signed from birth. I never ordered the "original copy" mine has like the time of birth on it which you don't get when you order a copy. My mom would disown me if I lost it

Yes, that's for sure! For a second I was worried for you

I actually don't think previous marriages are too "red Flagish" especially if the fiancé knows all there is too know but I've noticed a lot of denials based on lack of English and not understanding questions , not knowing enough about the fiancé, or lack of visits etc. they seem to just want to be convinced you're in a real relationship. I guess if you're not in one that's pretty hard to do! Lol I do have a past with an relationship that I'm sure will be brought up but I think I went into enough detail with my fiancé from how we met, where we worked, how long, past addresses, literally everything you'd never want to have to bring up to your current significant other unless you had to. Lol

how far have you gotten so far? Just waiting for the in transit / ready status?

@h&y   Were those denials specifically in Morocco or anywhere? I haven’t really met my fiancé after getting engaged back in July. Would that be a red flag? Do we have to take proofs of ongoing relationships? If yes, would text messages and call logs be fine since we didn’t meet and there are no pictures? Dang now my heart’s beating. Is not meeting gonna turn against us?

That's true! And to be honest... I haven't met many people in September who were from Morocco so maybe people just aren't applying. There were just a handful of couples on VJ. I was surprised the amount going through the London embassy! And still mind blown at the amount from the Philippines!

I think I remember one other couple, but I haven't seen them in a while. There are a few brazilians and that's good to share the info, but if it was a lot I would be worried with the interview spots 😂

Hey everyone! Just called NVC on a whim thinking that they wouldn't have received our case yet but they received it today and it has been assigned a case number!  Our NOA2 was March 26th (on paper, 28th online). Any idea on how long it takes from there to go to Mumbai?

I have almost the same exact dates and the guy at NvC told me it would take 10-15 days to reach Mumbai.

Each embassy is different, Mumbai only sends Packet 4 from what I have read on this site. My case status changed to received after two days.  We are in the process of completing the DS 160 form so haven't scheduled the interview yet after that will be setting up the medical which might be in Chennai. This is the packet 4, I'm not sure if there is a more recent one online.

You met in person at least once within two years right? If so you're fine.

I had just read read that a couple had been denied because it was 2 years since engaged and no trips had happened within that time frame. Which makes sense. So no, that wouldn't be a red flag :)

to be honest, anything can be a red flag. You never know what they're going to focus on. A friend of mine told me they were asked the simplest questions! What's her favorite movie? Did she visit other countries? So I'm sure the CO is already reviewing your file and figuring what's going to be asked.

i personally put our video chat logs, texts, fb messenger chat which we use the most, WhatsApp which we used in the start of our relationship and I have unlimited calls to Morocco so I did my phone bills bc they included a call sheet with his number on it. I'm no expert but I put the advice I got from people onhere and Rapidvisa and made my own conclusions lol

Oh yeah, we had met or were even together for quite sometime for two years prior to filing petition. I’m more of talking after petition filed and till embassy interview we would have zero visits and almost a year since we would have met. And should take chats/logs for time after petition filed to show on going relationship or doesn’t matter? Now I have to prepare an answer for a fact as to why We didn’t meet during this whole engagement time: the answer is simple, we thought we couldn’t. We just assumed we couldn’t cuz it would have jeopardize this fiancé process.

Got an email this morning from NVC that Montreal is expediting our case tho we didn’t ask for it. But glad we got it.

so NVC still says “in transit”. But we can start DS-160 now right?

Do we have to wait for packet 3 in the mail or just send an email to MTL after it becomes “ready”?
