Right now they say you should start calling in two weeks and call back every other day until they give you the NVC #.  From there it is to get all the paperwork together for the interview and submit the DS-160 (visa application).  Once you get the number it is usually a couple weeks for NVC to approve it and send it to your embassy.

I got a case number!!!! This moment is happier than NOA2 for me. I’m so happy. This month has felt longer than the last 6. I had a really hard time and it’s such a relief. As soon as you call and they ask for the beneficiary’s name and birthday you know they have a case number for you!!  I’ll update the timeline on my signature now

I just called NVC and my case was received....the usual line...it's going take some weeks for NVC to assign you a case#

 

My question is: When should i call back to see if they assigned my a case#?

I was going through the i134 today and I've seen some people have issues with getting a bank statement. FYI for anyone with Chase, I asked the online help and they said the following:

 

You can request a consulate or immigration letter by fax or mail. Please provide:
- Date
- Reason for the request
- Customer's name
- Customer's last 4 digits of the account number
- Customer's Signature
 

You can mail your request to: 
Chase National Confirmation
PO Box 955200
Fort Worth, TX 76155

Or, fax your request to: 1-817-345-3795

Still no case number for us. Our NOA2 was on February 22. They said now it is up to eight weeks!

From what I've seen on other threads it looks like it's currently taking 14 days for NVC to "receive" your case and almost 7 days to assign a #. (Please correct me if I'm wrong!)

Based on what I've seen in the tracker that's not the case. I think they're just adding a lot of extra cushion/reading from a script. Don't panic

wow my NOA2 was only one day after you, I do hope they receive my file soon, but I rang today and NVC said it's not there yet...

Hey everyone! 

I just found out about this thread! 

September filers here, NOA2 03/13! 

 

I have one question. Is it really necessary to call nvc to get the case number? We are not in "a rush" since I won't be able to leave my country before mid June (I have my last finals at university at the end of May, wish me luck!). I mean, is it the only way to get the case number or will it be sent to our email/home address?
