My fiance and I traveled together from Japan to the USA a few weeks after the NOA2 and had no problem. We even told the immigration officer that we were engaged and he just asked if we were getting married while she was in the USA and of course the answer was NO :)

You dodged a bullet. You could have been turned away. Always, always don't volunteer information to the CO, customs or immigration during this process. Answer any questions truthfully but keep your answers short. Don't expand your answer with a lot of chit chat.

I have heard many a horror story when someone starts talking and talking. Just a wise tip.

Has anyone visited after receiving the case number? Since my interview is only in May, I booked a flight to visit my fiance this month, but would appreciate any comments from people who have travelled after NOA2

You can travel it's not going to influence your visa interview in a negative way but will in a positive way.

Yup agreed on your points completely, but just to expand the story a bit...the officer asked if we were bf/gf and I said yes but added we’re engaged because there was ring on her finger and I wanted to be truthful :). Whole process took like 1 minute literally

but yea, chit chat and giving too much info is definitely something you shouldn’t do

So my fiancee received the email today saying NVC received our case. Also received an email saying it was sent to consulate, same day, and on top of that another email saying it has been approved to be expedited.

Has anyone else received this chain? We never applied for any sort of expedition, did we just get lucky?

:huh::D

good morning guys! i hate to say, but noa2 was march 12, nvc receied friday 23, and still - no case number yet!

i spoke to a new person yesterday and nothing... :(

i know it's around the corner - but this is beyond frustrating now as i know it's sitting there!

and i know some people had the case assigned the same day it arrived...

but let's keep hoping that monday is our day then

Any news on your NVC case number? Fingers crossed you get it soon. It's nice to be able to follow your timeline since you're just ahead of us and from Switzerland! I'm dying to know what documents they want, I just keep collecting the financial stuff just in case. Good luck and I hope you don't mind my lurking around your timeline :)

Might be a stupid question, but how are you receiving emails from NVC??

I believe there was a section of the i-129f paperwork that asked for email for contact of petitioner. I would assume NVC reviews and uses the same information to contact and thus contacted us thru email provided.

finally! we have the case number after 9 working days from the day they received it. Apparently they gave us the case no. and the invoice no. As per the agent, the embassy of choice will use the case no.like a username and the invoice number serves as a password to open the file in the system.

Hi Xie

Did you find out that they finally assigned your case number by calling today or did they send out an email alert? Just curious.  And, congrats!

See my comments in RED above.

@Greenbaum thank you so much for your responses. Also, I’m from india and on us travel immigration website it says that now k-1 is processed at Mumbai location but noa2 approval notice says New Delhi is as a consulate? Is that a generic mail sent? But why would USCIS send outdated info or has it changed to New Delhi?
