Just called and have an absolutely lovely chat with an old man at the NVC. He says my case isn’t there yet, but it can take 6 weeks for it to get there from USCIS. BUT he asked me my relation to the beneficiary and when I said fiancé he first off congratulated me (how unexpectedly nice) and then said that fiancés are usually out pretty quickly. He literally said “all the other types of petitions will be jealous by how fast you’ll get out of here. We’re just hi/bye for fiancés.” I asked about what they do and he said mostly it’s just asking three numbers case number, invoice number and beneficiary ID. He said sometimes other things happen but most cases are straightforward.

Also he was so chipper about them getting only 18” of snow today. What do they put in the water in NH?!

This makes me so proud. I'm originally from NH and the people there really are the sweetest.

Google Hangouts is a really cheap way to call USA by the way ☺☺

Is anyone else trying to get their fiancé (and in my case, myself) to the US by a certain date?

Also... just wanted to recommend a really good book I gave to my fiancé called "What Foreigners Need to Know About America from A to Z." (Cheesy name but it's great.) I got a 30-day trial of Kindle Unlimited and it's on there. It provides a lot of context and background on American culture that's helping him make sense of it. I'm reading it too and I've gotten a lot out of it!

My daughter graduates High School (the same school my future step-children will attend) at the end of May.  I am really hoping to have them here by then.  So far this hasn't been a quick or predictable journey.  School starts back up in June in the Philippines and the school they go to requires 100% payment of tuition before school starts.  I am worried that they will be there another year if we can't get this done before school starts there.  After 280 days waiting for NOA2, this seems to be just as stressful so far.  Part of that are nerves but this is becoming real!

PHILIPPINES ONLY!!!  CFO (Commission on Filipinos Overseas) INFO - Can't leave home without it!

PDOS (Pre-Departure Registration and Orientation Seminar) is for ages 20-59.  Peer Counseling is for 13-19 years of age.

It is required to have the visa in their passport for PDOS and Peer Counseling.

GCP (Guidance and Counseling Program) is for K-1 Fiancee and IR/CR-1 spouse ONLY.

I am sure you will have looked into this but I would have thought that since they are emigrating they should be able to claim special circumstances and wouldn't need to pay school fees? and school doesn't start until mid Aug in Illinois it sort of buys an extra 10 weeks from May?

Hi everyone! I'm a late February NOA2 but i'm gonna be popping in on this forum too :) especially now when the other forum is being kind of negative. We will all get to be with our loved ones soon. No sense in letting the frustrations get to us! It's probably just because of the snow up there anyways! I'm glad to be at this stage. One step closer! We got our case received yesterday so I'm hoping for a speedy case number! People last week were seeing case numbers 2 or 3 days after their case was received so I still have hope :D

Good luck Marchies

I called the NVC earlier. Our Noa2 were Feb 27 and the lady on the phone told me that our case has been received yesterday (March 14). I'm going to call them again next monday to see if they could tell us our case number. I can't wait to be with my fiancee, no more ldr.....we are almost there 💕

I’m going to do the same and switch to here where it’s more cheery and welcoming (and where there are more people waiting like me to talk to 😂)

The wait won’t be long now!! I’m so excited to get married one day in the not distant future. I can’t believe it is actually happening!! I’m looking forward to seeing people on here get case numbers today. Spring is coming so the snow days will be less and less. They’ll catch up

All is well if they get here before June. Unfortunately their schools require the entire payment for the year. They do allow monthly payments but the contract is for the full amount whether they are there or not. I supposed we can pull them out of the private school and put them in public for however long it takes but I don’t want to do that to them. Their biological father has already said he is done supporting them since they will come here.

So what is the time line now? your waiting on the NVC, hasn't Rose done most of what's needed to come over or is there still an interview? ( I have no idea what's needed from the Philippines)

Yes. She is all ready to go minus my financial stuff and DS-160. We are just waiting on our MNL# and we can book the interview. We should be OK but this part is new to me.

Well the good thing is that wait times at the NVC are back to normal (ish) I have to be honest the part after the NOA2 worries me a little too, after the months of waiting I don't want to mess anything up, my worry is I am bringing my 2 dogs with me and it looks like it is going to be mid summer at O'Hare and I don't want them sat on the tarmac over heating and stressed after a long flight, here (UK) and most European countries have people who deliver and collect animals from planes and take them to a reception centre, I don't know if O'Hare do the same.  .

Time for me to go to work, I am driving a school bus this week

hahaha I'm glad i'm not the only one feeling this way! This forum is much more cheery even if it is a little less active (i'm sure it will get more active as March rolls on)

Gosh me too! I get so excited when I see people getting their case numbers!! We are all sooooo close!!! This is like that last worst part. Once we have an interview date they can't push that back. I also can't wait to be done with calling them and listening to that God awful on hold music :jest: I'm staying positive! Every day is one day closer :D

But now we are almost done with it 🎉🎊Can't wait!!
