Don't be sad, my dear! Cheer up. NVC works much faster than USCIS so I'm sure that they'll give you your case number soon. And assigning a case number is NVC's work not the US embassy that you chose for your interview so don't feel bad about your choice. Just wait a little, it will come.

I know I'm only 4 days since NOA 2, but How do I know when NVC received my case? By calling them or by other means?

Thank you . I do understand that it is NVC's work but it seems like the US embassy of choice has the say unto how they would want to receive the approved petitions thus others had their case numbers after 10-14 working days from the NOA2 date. But oh well as they say, things worth having don't come easy.

I am not sure it that's how it works but well, we have endured the most excruciating part of waiting for noa2 so this one should be easy. Look on the bright side, these are the last stages to forever and all will be over super soon. Exciting, isn't it?  

Don't stress about this because it will just put lines on your face. We don't wanna look old in our wedding photos, eh?

Thank you @NICK & PAULA. It is true worrying and stressing over it will not do good. I feel like I really need a break and I badly need a vacation. Hopefully by the time I get back we have the Packet 3 and you're already in the US.

So our NOA2 date is 22nd March. We called the NVC today and they told us because of the overload it will take 6 weeks for NVC to receive the case and another 8 weeks to process it. Is this a freaking joke?

First, don't begin calling for 10 business days after you get your text message (NOA2). Second, you will need the Petitioner's and Beneficiaries full name and date of birth.

 

Call 603-334-0700 or 603-334-0888 Be prepared for a wait. Tell the operator that you are requesting a case number for your K-1. They will ask for the receipt number located on the left top of your I-797 (NOA2) form. Then he/she will either tell you that they have not received your case or you will be asked for the names and date of birth. If they don't have the case, you will be told it can take 30 to 45 days for them to receive it and to wait however many days/weeks and call back. That's a pad answer so ignore it. You can call back the next day or as often as you want. NVC's hours are 7am to 12 am (midnight) eastern time. Monday through Friday except Federal Holidays. Calling early at 7 am on the dot will get you in the fastest or calling late the lines to be open most often.

 

When you have your case number, enter it here https://ceac.state.g...ker/status.aspx and it will tell you one of three things... At NVC, In Transit, or Ready.

You can still move your file and interview to USEM if you want. May delay your approval by 30 days, but it still can be done.
