Hey dears,

i will do my interview on next Tuesday. I’m in great nervous now. I think i and my finance prepared everything well. Just we have a question for the interview, we wanna to know how I can express it in a acceptable way for precious marriage. We were dating while I still didn’t get divorced officially. At that time I and my ex were both in USA holding J visas. Our marriage didn’t work. So we both agreed to get divorced, for he could not be back because of work issue. Then we only could finish our divorce when we both came back to China. I developed the relationship with my finance at that time. Could it be a problem in Guangzhou interview? We wanna to be honest to tell the story. However should it be told in a detailed way or for short? Thank you ahead for any advice on my case. Appreciate

Don't volunteer information to them, you will just be digging yourself a big hole. They will question you about it and likely deny your application on that basis. Just answer the questions they ask, don't give any extra details.

Yay, got our passports with the visas.

Our timeline:

Noa 1: Sept 20, 2017
Noa 2: March 20, 2018
Medical Exam: May 7, 2018
Interview: May 14, 2018
Visa Issued: May 16, 2018
Visa On Hand: May 26, 2018

PS. It should have been sooner,  however,  I had to render 30 days prior to my resignation from my company. Good thing cos for me, I was able to get a Certificate of Employment which I can use when I'll apply for work. (Company is US Based)

Good luck to those who are still waiting. We all really need PATIENCE for this waiting game.

Hey all! A small update, both good news and bad. I have been spending all of Memorial Day weekend with the fiancé, and today he went back to work so I thought that I would do myself two favors and 1, get a phone that actually works over here and 2, get my SSN. The first one went absolutely fine and the Verizon guy was kind enough to find me a phone number that's simple enough to remember easily :D

Trying to get an SSN was my first setback in this immigration process. Even though the wait for NOA2 wait was long, everything has gone smooth so far in my opinion, and then I get to the SSA and they can't find me in the database... I even had them try one more time haha, both by name and by the I-94 number. Nothing. So it might be up to four weeks until I get it because they need to do a manual verification. Sucks, because it would've been awesome to be able to start setting up my bank accounts and get on a real phone plan, not prepaid. And I couldn't just go back a few days later and apply again because we'll be marrying soon. Anyway, a heads up to you all - it might NOT be in the system after only about two business days. Keep that in mind and if possible, wait a little longer to get your SSN than I did (but of course before marriage still) ;)

I read somewhere that you should wait 10-14 days after entering the country to give enough time for all the systems to update before applying for an SSN.

Also, why not just get a phone under your fiance's name? or ask them to add a line for you if he already has a contract. Also just a heads up for anyone who's thinking of just switching the SIM in your current phone with a US one - it might not work. My unlocked iPhone 6s from England did not work with Sprint's SIM card so i had to buy a new phone from here.

I got my visa today! Exactly 9 months ago we sent our package to USCIS and today I received my passport in the mail.

In 9 days I'll be back home! It's so surreal. I have to say, thank you to everyone on here who has helped me.

I feel like these past 9 months would've felt a lot longer if I hadn't had this forum.

Good luck to everyone still waiting, I really wish this happiness for each and everyone of you.

On April 12th my fiance had interview in Kingston jamaica. He did forget to bring court records which delayed him receiving the visa. He had a offensive weapon charge back in 2011 but never went to jail he just paid a fine. The C.O never said he was approved or denied he just told my fiance send the court records and he will get a email with further instructions. At this point i was a wreck i thought it was going to be a denial due the charge he had and was never disclosed on anything but they knew About it because he disclosed that info when he applied for the tourist visa 1 year ago which he was declined for. He sent document on April 30th the embassy received it on May 1. Between May 1- May 11 the case updated on Ceac 4 times. Between those dates i didn't know what to think but tried to keep the faith and just believe in God and on May 11 around 1pm i checked ceac it said ISSUED. I was in disbelief and in shock and filled with so many emotions. On May 15th the visa was picked up. This has been a long journey and within these long months I aint never cried so much in my life. Btw we have a 3 month old son together I think that helped our case alot. God may not move when we want him to but He does make things happen. My faith has became even stronger. He did it yall!!!😀😀😀😀😀👪👪👪.. Im flying to Ja so his family can meet the baby and we flying back together next week. Just thought i would share my story! Vj has helped me tremendously and I really thank each and everyone of y'all!!!!

That's so encouraging.  My fiance is a ghetto youth and its so easy for them to end up in some kind of trouble at any point.  Never makes them bad people truly. I'm so glad your family is united and your stress is relieved.  Pray for the rest of us with Jamaican fiances!!!!

Hello all,

Haven't posted in a while because we are still waiting. Seems to be a thing when your fiance isn't from a "certain" country.... I see the trend...

To everyone with upcoming interviews in countries that are difficult, for no reason - do not listen to everyone on here. People say don't offer too much, offer whatever you want.

People say frontload, sometimes you can't. In my case- the CO cut my fiance off a few times. I'm not giving advise nor the questions asked. Not trying to be mean or difficult

Not one piece of paper was asked to be seen. He simply read off the 134/129 and barely cared about my relationship. Hence why we are still waiting. Not giving more details

but be careful with who you listen to on here because most of these countries with approvals are pretty obvious as to why the approvals are much more simple.

Sorry to hear you’re still waiting. I’m hopeful for you both.  Too true, unfortunately with some countries you just start off with strikes against you, and it seems like you’re at the whim of the CO.  I’ve heard similar things about Ghana. Hang in there, dear.
