Hi,

I am petitioning for my husband who is from India, we got married in a church, and we were under the impression that the certificate from the pastor was sufficient after doing some research on the embassy's website. I have seen some comments from others that this was an issue for them. The reason we didn't get our marriage registered is because we got married on a weekend and I had to leave before we could have it registered. I came back to India a few months later and we tried to do it then, but there were some roadblocks, I don't remember all the specific details but because it had been over 90 days, there was a waiting period of a month or so and we were going to have to meet the deputy comissioner? Anyway, the person we spoke to seemed to think there was no reason to register it if we were not planning to live in India, and I didn't exactly have the time off to take at work to complete this process. Anyway now that i'm home and just waiting for a notice about our case, i'm just sitting here worrying about it. Can any of you tell me if you've been through this?
