I do understand the academic POV behind white privilege.  Doesn't mean I agree with the whole premise.  I believe in racism and tribalism as well, doesn't mean I embrace all aspects of either.

 

Unfortunately, too many take the term WP too far, and think it means that we get nicer things, or even just things, primarily because we are white.  Maybe you don't subscribe to this notion, but some do.

i don't understand any of this. racism isn't something to believe in. it's not some questionable phenomenon.

the only people i've ever spoken wth that felt white privilege meant we get 'nicer things' have been white people who just don't get it.

what i said is what i meant. i can't explain what i meant in discussing white privilege with you if YOU don't understand what white privilege is in the first place. that's why i suggested the links explaining white privilege. simple as that. you're not entitled to an explanation from me when you're choosing to remain ignorant on the subject matter. at minimum, i took the time to read the op and considering your line of questioning and plucking an incomplete sentence out of a full post of mine on page one.. you could save your minimal effort and move on yourself. game is obvious.

As I have said, I do understand what is meant.  But I don't believe I have an invisible knapsack full of passports, maps, money all at my disposal because of my skin color.  I believe life is a journey, and there is no right nor wrong way to tackle it.  My struggles, failures, hard work, and perseverance are what I consider to be in my invisible knapsack that have made me successful.   Not what someone who wants to be published tells me I SHOULD have in there.

Understanding and agreement are not always the same thing.  I understand what flat-earthers say as well, but you won't find me getting on board with their nonsense.   Just as I can understand why some think reducing gun sales will lower the homicide rates.   I get why they think that way, but can't bring myself to agree with them.

 

Also doesn't mean my opinions are 100% correct.  But for now, I believe in them.
