We’re still waiting for our interview to be scheduled but I had a question about taking translators to the interview. My husband speaks and understands English but he doesn’t feel confortable and thinks that once there he’ll get too nervous and will not understand the officer. Has anyone taken a translator with them to the interview? I speak perfect English but I don’t think they will allow me to translate.

Thoughts?

Our interview was this Tuesday and we brought a translator to the interview and it worked out fine.

My wife brought her friend that speaks good English.

It's better to bring one if he doesn't feel comfortable answering questions in English.

You are not allowed to translate for him due to conflict of interests.

Hopes this helps.

Thank you so much!! This helps a lot! Did you have to fill out any specific form to let them know before hand that you were bringing a translator?

I brought the below form, can't really let them know before hand, just inform the IO that you have a interpreter when you get called into the room for interview:

On day 218 now waiting for AP and day 191 waiting for EAD. :(

Hang in there! Did you get any status updates? Or are you still on case was received? Mine just changed to Ready to Schedule Interview after sending in my second RFE response. Maybe your update is coming soon too!

I know this thread has been pretty dead since we all came together in March... I'm hoping for great news for everyone. Updates for those who have been waiting for one. Easy-going interviews and approvals for those with dates coming up. By this time next year, I hope immigration woes are (generally) behind us and we can all look forward to a positive future with our loved ones!

I've done numerous SRs, spoke to Tier 2, nothing in the mail, no luck at all. I'm so annoyed with the whole process, not being able to work and travel 😡

Wow. I know the wait sucks but no RFEs means you sent all you need to... I'm hoping you hear something soon. Where are you located?

I can’t really think of any questions that stood out. All the questions were pretty basic. When did we get married? Did her parents like me? They asked her if she had also filed papers for her previous husband? I thought we were going to have issues because of the fact that my wife doesn’t work and she is the petitioner. We used my salary for the application and we did not have a cosponsor. I also thought we were going to have issues because of the fact that I did not know the exact day I entered the country as I did not enter with an I-94. I entered with a B1 visa and was just waved through. But in the end, none of that was an issue.
