Hello, guys! I've been a lurker since January but now I'd like to share something with you. I've been complaining to my fiance nonstop since last month because of the wait and I always tell him that I think it's unfair because he wasn't stressing out as much as I did (I'm the beneficiary). You see, I already resigned and was unemployed since August 28. He would only tell me, "Just wait. It will come."

Last Sunday, I went to church and the message was all about faith in waiting. Just like the Chinese Bamboo Tree. Once you plant it, you would only see a bamboo shoot in a year and it stays that way for 5 years. But the bamboo farmers don't complain because it will eventually grow at a rate of 90 feet in six weeks. You see, its roots grow underground in those first 5 years. We just can't see it yet. And beginning that Sunday, I was calm and happier. I didn't check VJ as much and I only prayed and kept myself busy.

And voila, just this morning here in the PH, my fiance got a text from USCIS (around 9pm NY time) that an action has been taken on our case. I was shaking as I checked the old site. And OMG! WE JUST GOT APPROVED! 13 has always been lucky to me. No update on the new site, though.

NOA1 (old site): February 28

NOA1 (new site): March 3

NOA2: September 13

So for those who are still waiting, hang in there. We won't realize the value of the blessing if there was no waiting. All this waiting makes us stronger as a couple. We just have to look at the bigger picture. I just can't wait until I get to hug my love!

CONGRATS! Yes, the blessings are coming.....

Advice: KEEP BUSY!!

I have made almost 7 times over the minimum income requirement for this year. Im wanting to take the rest of the year off which I usually do at this time. Will not having a job but showing plenty of income cause my fiancee to be denied at embassy interview ?

First, the USEM Philippines is one of the easiest Embassy to get a visa from. Second, all they care is that you are above the poverty line so that you can support your beneficiary. I've read you case here on VJ so all you need is proof of the income you earn. Read over the below information and if you have any questions after just ask away. Third, USEM hasn't asked for financial information for the past three years but they do sometimes ask for it so be prepared and if it is not asked don't be surprised by that.

You are required to complete Form I-134. If the income reported on this form or your tax return reflects income below the poverty guidelines for the year the form was submitted, submit evidence of your income. This can include the following documents:

  • For those who are employed by an individual or company, submit a photocopy of an employment letter, pay stub, or pay advance (direct-deposit receipt) that meets the criteria below:
    • Includes your name and the company’s name;
    • Is on signed, business letterhead (you cannot sign the letter yourself); and
    • Is issued within the last three months.
  • For those who are self-employed, obtain a photocopy of one of the following:
    • Your business license.
    • A signed letter on business letterhead that was written within in the last three months.
    • A contract between you as an independent contractor and a company.
  • For those who are unemployed or retired, submit a photocopy of ongoing income from other means, such as:
    • retirement benefits;
    • other household members' income; or
    • other significant assets.

EVIDENCE OF SUPPORT. You should be able to demonstrate that you will not become a public charge or be a burden on the U.S. taxpayers for financial support. A completed I-134 Affidavit of Support Form K1/K2 Interview Preparation Instructions – English (February 2014)  Page 3 of 9 with original signature will be useful to the consular officer to evaluate your petitioner’s ability to be financially responsible for you. You should also submit your petitioner’s most recent U.S. Federal income tax return (Form 1040) and wage statements (Form W-2). Employment letters stating salaries and bank statements may be included to substantiate the I-134.

Hi, I know this isn't really relevant to this forum , but what are you guys planning to do about healthcare / insurance? Because I live in the UK and we have the nhs which essentially means we get free healthcare, so the concept of not having any is scary to me... I know some may be able to be put onto their soon to be spouses plan, but mine is self-employed and on his stepfathers insurance which i think already has the maximum amount of people on, so im not quite sure how that will work for me... Also I think most of us are hoping to become citizens at the end of this journey, so how does like dual citizenship work? Like do we get to stay a citizen of the country we came from or is it just not possible? Haha thanks in advance for any replies!

We plan to put him on my work provided health insurance after we’re married. Unfortunately, can’t really move forward till we’re married. Since all our family would have to fly in for the wedding, we’re actually planning a “court house” marriage just to be able to do file for an AOS and get him health insurance ASAP. We’ve decided we can’t plan a wedding and stall on that all that for months. So we’ll get married to file for all that then have a wedding/celebration first part of next year so our families can plan for travel.

I received this today. I know it doesn’t mean much and that it’s just an update for us, but can someone PLEASE just tell me that the NOA2 comes a few days later??????? I login to my account twice a day so I don’t know why I got it (I’m just wishful thinking right now haha)...

We are still reviewing your case and there are no updates at this time

We will notify you when your case status changes. We last took action on your case on August 31, 2018.

I got this as well! Took action date: August 29. Praying it will be soon!

There is another couple from the Phil with your same timeline and they just got their approval on Friday. Your's is right around the corner. I am going to give you some tools that will help you watch the timelines of others from the Philippines.

There are several tools available to you. Go up to Immigration Timelines on the blue ribbon above and select it. Once you are on the next page looked to your left and you will see a box that states, "find similar timelines" and select it. A list will populate with those who are processing close to your timeline. When they start to change you will soon be behind them.

Also, there is another place you can go and follow others who are processing the same time you are and for the same Embassy. Go to the blue ribbon at the top of this page and select "portals". Scroll down the left-hand side of the page till you get to VJ "your country's name" Timelines. Just below it you'll see "K-1" so you select it and out pops a window with others from your country.

Do you guys have your NBI Clearance? Have you looked over your documents for spelling errors or wrong dates? Does the beneficiary have enough time in her passport to make the trip. Needs at least 6 months but I recommend more than a year. If not you need to get the passport renewed before the interview. Does the BC match the Passport name? These are but a few of the "gotchas" for the Philippines Embassy.

Once you receive your case number it's time to be in charge of what time you choose when things get done. To smooth that trail for you I have a few things that will help you process your visa there in the Philippines.

Start by visiting Hanks site where he has taken the time and research, and of course it helps if you spent 8 plus years helping folks in the Philippines sub-forum get their visas, where he has listed each step. With those steps he includes the what, when and why to completing the item. Many have used the website and have had little or NO problems securing a visa from USEM.

http://www.visaconnection-philippines.com/k-1-visa-application.html

Next you'll want to connect with those who are processing through the Philippines in the VJ Philippines sub-forum that way you will be with like minded ppl who are sharing their experiences and also asking and answering questions. Since most in this thread are processing through another country they would be hard pressed to explain what is needed for the Philippines.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/129-philippines/

You'll find this on Hank's website but I will give it to you early and that is the Packet 3 Letter for USEM. It's found here:

https://ph.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/fiancee-visa/the-interview/

Here is the Packet 3 letter.

https://ph.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/82/2016/08/K1-and-K2-Applicant-Interview-Preparation-Instructions-08112016-English-336KB.pdf

There you have it. Everything you need to get your visa. Good luck and smooth sailing.

Dual citizenship (also known as dual nationality) is allowed in the UK. This means you can be a British citizen and also a citizen of other countries. ... Many countries do not accept dual citizenship. Check with the country's consulate or embassy in the UK to find out about that country's laws on dual nationality.

Dual citizenship - GOV.UK

Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline or your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine your Embassy. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Thanks

Hey all. Received an email today. I received an RFE. NOA1 date on old site is March 5. Bummed about the RFE since I hired a lawyer for help with it all and now this will push back our case a bit. But I am trusting God with it all and letting that give me peace. Hope everyone heard soon!

I’m really sorry to read that. At least you have progress and can correct the issue and hopefully see an approval within a couple weeks!

I don’t understand USCIS hours. Do they work weekends?

Why the late night and weekend notifications?

Computers don't take weekends off. With the slew of information being spewed out it just takes time is my guess.
