My fiancé is coming to visit me next month! I go to see him every month faithfully. (Cayman Islands) which is a blessing because I know some of you haven't seen your partners in months! I'm really praying we can be together by the end of the year! This whole process is annnnoyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyingly long!

We try and see each other every 2 months or so and we’ve been lucky enough to do that for the last two years. It’s so tough! I couldn’t imagine going any longer not seeing him :( i pray it won’t be too much of a long wait for us all 🙏🏽

Even though uscis seems to be slowing down from Jamuary - March i think it will pickup some.  Approvals are coming at 6 months for many people even though some do lag behind to 7 + months.  JanUary and February and the first two weeks of March were low than average cases submitted.  All in all if you do not fall thru the cracks then in my opinion 6 months for

most of us is definitely a possibility.

Hey everyone! I received my NOA1 in the mailbox on March 14th, going on a little past 3 months now waiting for NOA2. My fiancé is in the Philippines, does anyone know of any documents that either her or I can start gathering before we receive the NOA2?

Unfortunately there is not too much you should be doing at this stage. There are checklists on the government websites that spell out exactly what you will need once you receive your NOA2. However, as advised by my lawyer, it is not a good idea to do anything until you have received your NOA2. I have seen some people on here that said they got all these documents together while they were waiting, but its not the best idea. Part of that is due to the timing of everything. We are not guaranteed when the NOA2 will come and there are multiple time sensitive documents that you and your fiancee will be submitting after receiving the NOA2 such as police records, tax forms, etc. As I said its time sensitive. If you look online you will find that they want very updated documents. For instance the police records I believe need to be valid for 6 months. So if you go ahead and get these things now but don't receive your NOA2 for 4 or 5 months... and don't get full approval for another couple months after that-- you'll have to do it all over again. So although its frustrating as I know we have all this time now to prepare these things while waiting for the NOA2, I would strongly suggest you sit tight and wait for your NOA2 and the specific instructions they send you with that. I hope this helps a bit. :)

The wait is driving me crazy but alas, what can you do?

I'm praying the NOA2 doesn't get pushed back anymore, some of us aren't lucky enough to visit our fiances :(

There's word flying around that it takes 8-10 weeks to get the case number after receiving the NOA2 now, urgh...

I actually recently talked to my lawyer about how long it takes to get the case number. And what you said is actually true. He said instead of taking only a couple weeks at most to receive the case number like it always has-- its taking about 8 weeks. So there's another waiting period there too unfortunately :(

I'm still seeing a lot of people get out of the NVC in 2-4 weeks.... but I hear you...it's so hard to not have control over any of this. And on top of the NVC wait I've been seeing it looks like it can take 3+ months to get an interview in Canada....it's so disheartening. We were planning a POE by the end of the year but we've decided to more realistically expect that it might be next year and I'm coming to terms with that slowly.

the only thing time sensitive are the heath exam and police records. you cant even schedule the exam until you are at the NOA 2 stage just before your interview i believe, and police records, depending on where and when and what, can take months to compile. taxes dont change, you just add the current year to your file if youve gone through a new tax year. most everything else is fairly routine and ordinary. proof of citizenship, documentation of ongoing relationship, birth and divorce records - that stuff doesnt change or expire. the petitioner (and maybe beneficiary, i dont recall) does have to write a new letter of intent to marry before the interview, but its not like that takes long to do.

The proof of citizenship, documentation of ongoing relationship, birth and divorce records all were turned in with this part of the k1-visa. So I'm not sure what you are referring to when you say those are documents we gather after receiving the NOA2? I understand the tax records we could technically do now but I didn't think there was much more left to do that would really be time saving and the rest definitely is time sensitive. Also, my lawyer did let me know about a month ago they are now allowing us to submit all the files online including police records which should hopefully speed up the process overall.

You have to take originals to the interview. you send copies for the initial petition. i imagine, though im not sure, that even if you can submit info online (which to my knowledge we can not do at the montreal consulate), you would still have to take the originals to the interview. that just makes sense to me, but we all know logic and the government dont go hand in hand.

.

its easier to keep everything together and add to it as it comes along, then to be rushing later trying to find it all, organize it all, etc. youll also want to continually update and keep together documentation of an ongoing relationship (visits, photos, etc - just like for the initial petition)

shoot, i sent my financials with the petition, and  im positive ill have to give it to them again. no biggie.

Hi all,

I am introducing myself to the group. We are a German American couple and I live and work in Sweden at the moment. Maybe we are rather April filers, because our NOA1 has been received on March 26 2018. As it is taking very very long to get all the police certificates (I lived in 5 different countries) I already started organizing them. I live abroad, so I needed to schedule an appointment at the German Embassy etc in order to ask for my Police certificates in my home country.

So far ich have received 2 different police certificates. If they will run out due to long waiting times, I guess I would have to ask for new ones then.. :( Oh dear...

Wish you all the best of luck with you process!

And if there are more applicants from Stockholm or germany, it would be great to make contact here!

xx
