Well, I just came back from Spain using the 12 month extension letter My expires green card and global entry.. At first I was so nervous ‘cause I didn’t what was gonna happen on my way back,. The day before of my return, I was so afraid, and feeling like I had made a huge mistake leaving the country in the middle of this tedious process, but then I convinced myself that nothing was gonna happen since I had not done anything illegal. But now, I can’t stop laughing at how stupid I was. In madrid, once at the airport, I went to the Air Europa line to start the checking process. An AE agent came to me and asked me for my documents, I gave her the letter and the green Card and she perfectly knew what the EX LE was. Then, she walked me to the counter, and Another person checked me in, and put a sticker on the my passport saying that my document were ok. I got to the gate on time and could flight back to Miami. Arriving, I went to the global entry kyosk and there was any officer there to help me at the moment. I tried to put my GC information manually to see if it worked in that way but i did not. Suddenly an officer came to me and asked me if I needed help and I explained that my GC was expired and that I had the extension letter, he asked me if a had a global entry card  which I responded yes. Right after that, He sent me directly to the officer ‘cause there wasn’t anybody in the line. What was really curious was that the officer got my documents  and in less that 1 minute without asking anything, gave me the documents back said to me go ahead. He didn’t even seal my passport. Very weird! But that was how it happened. So now waiting for my next trip.

Anyone else thinking about naturalization?  We become eligible in February 2019!

"The spouse of a U.S. citizen filing for naturalization on the basis of his or her marriage may file the naturalization application up to 90 days before the date he or she would first meet the required three-year period of continuous residence. [11] Although an applicant may file early and may be interviewed during that period, the applicant is not eligible for naturalization until he or she has satisfied the required three-year period of residence. All other requirements for naturalization must be met at the time of filing."

I was thinking about it BUT I have to beg my own country to keep my own citizenship first i cant give up mine to much hanging on it

I searched around VJ a little bit, but any other advice is appreciated: are there any issues with filing unemployment with regards to ROC or naturalization? My husband works as a consultant, so he doesn't necessarily have work every week and his colleagues file unemployment for that. I read that it's fine since unemployment is not a "means tested benefit".  I couldn't find anything about unemployment in the naturalization guidebook, so would love if someone could help out with this! Thanks!

Anyone here still stuck with the fake paper copy of their 18 months extension letter ? I called uscis two weekends ago about mine and I told the representative That I didn’t file through an attorney therefore I need  to have the original copy of my 18 months extension letter . I got the original copy in the mail yesterday .

Yes I only ever got the receipt copy. I made an infopass last week and she gave me a 12 month stamp. An 18 month extension from date of expiry and 12 month from date of stamp are pretty much the same date at the moment.

Hi guys,

Any March filer still waiting on Biometrics? I am June filer and received NOA on 6/21, CSC and trying to estimate tentative timeline for my bio-metrics appointment.

We are planning to travel outside US in mid November and return back in last week of December but worried that what if we receive bio-metrics appointment notice in the mail when we are gone and miss the appointment. Recently I did inquiry with USCIS regarding travelling concern, in email they said "Please know your name has been added electronically to appointment scheduler and you will receive ASC notice once date is established for you." I am not sure if this is automated reply or someone at USCIS actually looked into file and emailed us. Even then it does not tell the date or anything.

I have heard that appointment can be rescheduled but that is possible after notice is received. In our case, due to travel we will not be able to check if notice has arrived and can't think of anyone who can open our mail box either.

Please advise.

Thanks.

hello everyone,

can you guide how to reschedule biometrics appointment when out of country? Is that something can be done over the phone or by email or some different procedure? what do they ask for to reschedule it? Any issues in that you might have experienced while doing that? any detail will be appreciated.

thanks.

Maybe double check that you didn't receive a biometrics waiver? Maybe it got lost in the mail? A lot of CSC filers recieved biometric waivers

I am planning on it.  I am eligible to file on March 20, 2019.

Pros - It moves I751 to have to be approved at the same time with N400, which could potentially save you a couple of months waiting on I751 to be approved first.

Cons - You and your spouse could be called for a joint interview (like when we all did during AOS filing), when USCIS schedules you to come in for N400, because your I751 file is now batched together with your N400 file.  The only way N400 can be approved is after I751 is approved.

I mean they may call you alone to do N400, or they may call you and your spouse to first do I751 interview then N400 right after on the same day.  Most people I think would try to avoid having to be interview with spouse again because the details are too much to prepare for, regardless of how good or bad your marriage has been.

We can file as early as Dec 15 of this year.  In my state the wait is about 8 months.  So it will be around the same time as the I751 process should be completely.  So, we might as well do on shot.
