So I have been waiting for a case number since Feb 9. By Feb 23rd (the two week mark), NVC escalated it to a supervisor. I called last night and the first person I got on the phone said, your case has been created but it is in the "new database" and asked me to hang up and call back and select option 5 from the menu ( I had been selecting option 7). I follow those instructions and call back and this lady picks up the phone and says, "I can confirm that NVC has received this case today and it will take two weeks to generate a case number" ?!?!@?! I am trying to remain calm at this point and told them no, my case has been in NVC since Feb 9 and it was escalated to a supervisor on Feb 23. They asked me who said that. I said the NVC agents I have been speaking to. So she put me on hold and came back and said that she is guessing that when my case was escalated it was put into electronic processing which is good. So I said as far as I know the consulate I am applying for initially is not doing electronic processing and also that I was going to request for a consulate change anyway to the mumbai consulate because it is faster than abu dhabi and my husband is an indian national. So she said I should email asknvc@state.gov with all that info to request for a change in embassy. I told her I have been told several times that I have to wait for a case number to be generated before I could request for a change in consulate. she said since the case is going to be created for electronic processing, I should do this now before it goes through. I was going to call back today  and find out more info (I already sent in the change request) but the NVC is closed. She said this is the second "bizzare" call they are getting. Who the hell is doing this? Is abu dhabi doing EP? Why would they put my case to EP if neither embassies are doing EP? What the hell are they doing there? Any advice on how I should proceed?

NVC is taking a while to generate case numbers, especially for CEAC cases. They received mine January 8th...sent for supervisor review on January 31st...got my case number yesterday, March 12th! It's ridiculous how long it's taken. I called every week & no one had an idea why it was taking so long.

If I were you, I would contact your Congressman. It's part of their job to help with Federal Agencies and there's usually a place on their website about federal agency help. If not, call their office, but they can inquire on your behalf in a more formal way. It's possible they have more knowledgeable contacts? I dunno. Just my 2 cents.

The NVC received my info in early January and did not have a case number ready until February 28. I called a couple times a week during that time and no one had any explanation for the time it was taking. I'm getting CEAC processing, so when my case number was ready it immediately generated an email to my wife and I with our case number and invoice ID number. I used that to log into the CEAC website and was able to pay the invoices on March 1 (a Thursday) and start submitting documents by Monday, March 5.

It took over 8 months for my I-130 to get approved, so I did not get too worried about the NVC processing time. It has been way faster than the USCIS part.

I am a longtime observer who has just joined the forum. We filed our i130 in June and were approved and transfered to the NVC at the end of January. NVC received our case on Feb 2, 2018 and we are still waiting for a case number. Ours is a pivot case (Canada). I call the NVC every day to no avail. We have been referred to a supervisor twice (the second time they took names and DOB). I’m trying to get a sense of what’s going on there and how much longer it will be. Anyone get a case number yet with a pivot case received in February?

I am with you there mine was recieved on feb 2 also a pivot case

We tried our Congresswoman back when we were at USCIS stage. So useless! They wanted us to fax (yes fax) them my wife’s drivers license, then said they never received it (no paper in the fax machine?). Then the driver’s license was too dark. Thank hen they submit regular inquiry and were told to wait 60 days which we already did. I say try it as any action feels like progress but don’t put your hopes up. Fingers crossed!

NVC is closed today so I can't call to confirm, but am I correct in thinking that this would almost certainly indicate a CC, and never a checklist?
