Its my first time and its confusing.

1. How to know my scan date?

2. I checked via ceac it says my case “at NVC”. How many weeks should I wait for my documents to be DQ and interview schedule?

Thanks

AT NVC usually means your case review is already complete. call on monday to verify. they schedule interviews the last week of the month to the first week of the next month so you might get lucky and get your interview scheduled in the next or wait another month.

Hey everyone, while we kind of stayed calm and relaxed between NOA1 and NOA2, this NVC stage takes soo much longer than expected ...

I know we had a spreadsheet which I can't find anymore - but are there any pivot cases approved between 02/20 and 02/25/2018 here?

My case is pivot and my my date is feb 2 and still no case number maybe this week if you are a pivot embassy case expect to wait 8 to 9 weeks . Or maybe you get lucky and NVC start getting things done faster.

This is ridiculous and I just don't know what to do.

Yesterday was exactly 8 weeks from when NVC received our case. I called this morning and the rep tells me that it is just taking them very long to enter all of the cases in... so 8 weeks is not even cutting it any more. She routed my case to a supervisor again and told me that it can take up to 6 weeks for the supervisor to review. In the meantime, a case number may or may not get assigned. She has no idea what date they are working on right now.

I am just so upset. This part was not supposed to take this long :(  So over 8 weeks now and still no case number. I better get it within the next week.

They love saying that supervisor spill. Dont worry i am at 8 weeks too. Any known jan 24 25 have cases assigned already anytime this next week or early the next

The recent case numbers give me some hope. It seems like they are on January 25th or so.

You’re right. But then there has been some cases in Feb that already have case #s. So just like USCIS, there’s no logical order to this process. Either we get lucky or not.

I have a question. Our NVC case has my wife’s name as AM. However her Maiden name AB is on all her documents. Would that be an issue for NVC? She is getting a new passport on Monday and isn’t sure if they will allow her to put AM on it (even though we got married there, in Morocco, and she has our marriage certificate copy).

I think as long as she has some official document that has both her maiden name and new name on it explaining the change, it will be okay. I kept my maiden name for now just to avoid confusion during the immigration process.

Call NVC. They should be able to tell you if the documents were received and when.

They do and nothing helps. I’m hoping next week is our week. Week 9 has been the trend for many people. I have seen some Jan 24-25 cases assigned last week but then again I’ve seen some Feb cases assigned too. No logical order to this thing.

I called yesterday and got ONLY the invoice number... which I think it’s a progress considering I had nothing before lol  hopefully will get case number next week 👏🏼

*pivot case, received 31st of January*

Congrats!! Some progress at least. Ours is a pivot case too received Feb 1. Hopefully next week I’ll hear something good.

If I’m renewing my passport do u think it’s okay if Use my maiden name and married name? My paper work was done in my married surname but I’d like the keep my maiden name still and add my married name to it. Would it be a problem for the visa?

I’m not sure if that would be a problem... sometimes they’re picky with even slight differences in the name, other times they don’t care. I personally think it’s best to avoid any variations in the name while you’re going through the immigration process. It’s best to have the same name on the application and all supporting documents. You can change it easily afterwords.

I kept my maiden name for this process but once everything is approved and my husband is here, I might change it.

So you want to do a hyphenated last name with your maiden and married last name? I think for the most part they would understand this kind of a change in name. You can always attach an explanation with your documents. Or just change it to your married name to be consistent with the rest of the documents to avoid any confusion at all at least at this point. It’s been such a long process, i always like to think to keep it simple. Otherwise who knows how much longer they will take.

Yes I was Going to hyphenate the last name with my maiden name. Ok then I guess I’ll jus do it with my married last name only so it won’t cause any problem

I think that’s a good idea at least while you’re in this long and confusing process. You can always change it later :)
