NVC Filers - March 2018

Okay so an update:

Since I got my case & invoice numbers on the phone on Monday, I've been trying them periodically on the CEAC website. I was getting a message saying that our case wasn't ready for further processing, and then late last night it let me log in.

The DS-261 form was available to fill out, so my husband and I turned that form in ASAP today.

However..we still haven't gotten a welcome e-mail.. so we can't move further until we get that.

I'm just confused as to how this works?

How were we able to log in and do the DS-261 form if our case isn't ready enough for NVC to have sent a welcome e-mail yet?

I called the NVC to ask this, and the guy wasn't sure either, he just said to keep waiting for the e-mail.

I'm not really sure when to expect it..

And, at what point should I mail out my documents like my I-864 and civil documents? I don't want to mail them too soon, but I also want them mailed out as soon as it's possible..

One final thing: back in September  (2017) I asked my husband to get his police certificate, just so we'd have it ready...but I've read conflicting things about how long they're valid for.

I've usually seen 12 months, but some places I've seen say 6 months.

Would his police certificate be accepted by the NVC without issue as it's just over 6 months old..?

(It's a UK police certificate)

Thank you to anyone who can clear anything up! :)

regarding police certificate, it has date how long its valid like 6 months so when u provide that to nvc or embassy at interview it cant be past that date so i think he should get another to be safe or might get check list.....

1/10/18 - NOA2

1/18/18 - Case Sent to Department of State

1/25/18 - NVC received case

3/30/18 - Case # and IIN assigned

3/30/18 - Paid AOS and IV fee

4/9/18 - AOS and IV fee Status Changed to Paid

4/9/18 - Submit DS 260 and uploaded AOS and IV package

4/16/18 - Case complete

5/7/18 - Received interview email

6/4/18 - Interview @ 7am at ISL embassy - Approved :jest:

Well, I've already told him to get new ones so he'll have it for the medical exam and interview, but I wondered if this one might be okay for just the NVC stage...as most places do say valid for 12 months (UK police certificate) but I did read 6 months somewhere--thinking it may be for the medical part? Not sure..but..I just didn't want to have to wait for the new police certificate to move forward with NVC..

@KeziaBrian I have the same date (Janauary 31st) as you and I got the same response just now (Thursday evening US time).  Since it is after 8 weeks on they will send to supervisor and they have six weeks to respond.

i am so tempted to yell at them!

It's recommended to print the ds-260 once you're done filling it out. I'm not sure if you have to bring a copy of it to the interview, but definitely good to have a copy.

You will fill out the I-864 since the petitioner is always the main sponsor...and then your dad will fill out his own I-864. If your dad files taxes jointly with a spouse, then that person should fill out the I-864a.

Oh okay, thanks for all your help it really means a lot.
