It’ll take about 2 weeks to send, 2 weeks have it received, and then they’re saying 8 weeks to assign a case number. That’s all rough averages right now. The lucky ones take less, but most are longer. I think pivot countries are closer to 8 weeks (and over) and all other cases are roughly 5 weeks.

Oh wow!

That's just so long!

What's a pivot country?

Am I supposed to get my case number sent by mail as well as calling? Or it can only be obtained by phone?

no fee for  Ds 260?

No DS260 you just have to choose who will be the agent (contact). Either you, your spouse or lawyer if you have one. After that you call NVC have them verify and accept it over the phone. Then you pay AOS $120 wait a few days Pay IV $325 wait a few days... Fill out DS261 and send AOS and IV documents.

Pivot country are the ones that can submit documents online. If you are not a pivot country you have to send by mail. You will get the case number via email also but you can find out faster over the phone so you start earlier with the NVC process.

Here you can find out if you can submit your documents by uploading, by email or mail based on the initials of your case number.

I was just looking at this earlier and noticed they removed the list of embassy prefixes under electronic processing (I recall they’re expanding). It’s not just me that can’t find it now, right? I’m now worried that my country will be added to the list and I’ll be in for that 8 week and over wait!

Lol thank u. So only those 2 fees to be paid? I thought u had to pay a fee for all of them like for the aos and the ds261 . That’s why I ask about the fee :)

Well

Method 1 is uploading to their webpage but thats only if you get a letter from them saying "You may begin online processing"

Method 2 Email processing only if your case number begins with AKD, AMM, BGH, DMS, GZO.

Method 3 if it starts with GUZ

if none of the above match with your case prefix then you have to mail.
