Hello fellas,

I would like to see advice based on your experience guys. Believe it or not, I am inquiring on what is the BEST way to make sure that my wife's interview does not take place before the end of June! Yup, you got it right! Though I feel so frustrated at this stupid and slow process, it seems it is best to delay the interview until the Supreme court decides on the ban placed on Syrians.

My case is a pivot one. From what I read, if I do not pay the IV fee, I still can get a CC , is that right?

I know I can delay submitting the IV docs; but it is too much of a risk and I am afraid I will get a check list and this will made the delay too long.

So what is the best way to get through everything and hold them from setting an interview date a bit?

My wife is Syrian and there is a Muslim ban that is not giving a visa of any kind to Syrians. But the supreme court is supposed to have a hearing this April and decide on the legitimacy of the ban by end of June (hoping they rule against the ban)!

Thanks in advance for any advice and wish you all good luck.

I'm not sure but I don't think you can get a CC without paying the IV fee...you can hold off on submitting documents though. I believe with pivot cases the review is about 4-6 weeks. So maybe don't submit the final docs until end of May?? Once you get a cc I think it might be difficult to control when you get the interview...so your best bet is to hold off on submitting docs. If you get a checklist, because it's a pivot case, I don't think would delay it too much more. These are all guesses though, maybe someone knows more...sorry you have to deal with this at all!

Hi There - Congrats on movement on your case! A recommendation (learning from my mistake...), make sure you call and have your DS-261 reviewed on the phone! Our was marked "Complete" and our AOS fee opened up and got marked paid within a couple of days. However, when the IV fee hadn't unlocked 5 days later I called to ask why and they said it was because my DS-261 had not yet been reviewed! I made the mistake of assuming that because my AOS fee was available that it was approved... it was not. So, if you haven't yet, give them a call to get this reviewed!

Oh wow! Okay thanks for letting me know. I’m going to call on Monday

I have been waiting for my Case # since Feb 26th. :( as i read the comments and message everyone receives there case # within 4 weeks.

Are you a pivot case? Mine is & it took 9 weeks. Right now it seems NVC has slowed a bit & they are telling people the average is 8 weeks to get the case number. Hang in there!

Yes it’s S&J so why Italy as pivot why it’s not pivot?

Sorry, I don't know. You may ask the owner, peachouille  about this or maybe fill the form again.
