It is very unfair that the government has allowed the waiting period to get this long, the other services that people really need are not set up to accommodate a legal person who is in limbo this long.

Your congressman office, I contacted mine and filled out a form with some information and they asked USCIS themselves what was going on. I got my card about a week after that (might have been a coincidence but it can't hurt to try).

Hello Nathan,

Sorry for my late reply.

I agree, it is really unfair. I believe there was an regulation that USCIS had to approve EAD wihin 90 days until 2016.

I will contact my congressman. Thank you so much for this helpful info!! It's worth to try for sure:)

Google who the senator is in your state (there are 2) and go to his web site, call their office and sign a privacy release so they can contact USCIS
on your behalf.

Hello  Ebunoluwa!

I googled and found my congressman. I had know idea who the congressman was until you all told me about it. haha

Thank you so much! I'm so glad everyone is very helpful!!:D

I am still waiting on EAD and AP too.

Applications received on September 25th 2017. I contacted my congressman a few days ago, I'll keep you updated.

Thank you for sharing your status!

Let me know how it went after contacting your congressman. Hope we both get EAD soon...

It's kinda torture not able to work and leave U.S. for vacation or family emergency.

Well, I haven't actually gotten the EAD in my hands yet, but it's finally on the way!

I'd recommend filling out the Ombudsman form as well.. it's really easy, everything is online (including the privacy release), and at least then you've started the process with one place.

Hello Hamilton,

I'm happy for you that your EAD is finally approved!

I will definitely file Ombudsman from. I didn't know you can do everything online. Thank you for the info!!

I applied in August and haven't heard a thing.

Hi, thank you for your comment!

Omg you are waiting for over six months too?

I checked Timeline for EAD and many people who submit their application on November and December got approved already.

It's so unfair that some people get approved within three months and others takes forever...

Hope we both gets EAD soon! Plz let me know if there is an update!

I applied on 9th August 2017 and I got my card on 8th January 2018.

I tried everything to get it pushed through quicker - service requests, expedite requests and contacting my local senator. Nothing worked. That's not to say you shouldn't try. I found I slept slightly better at night knowing I had exhausted all the options available.

Also, I applied for my Green Card at the same time as my EAD and I've been told that they are currently processing January 2017 which means its still a while away. But honestly, who knows. I take what the frontline staff at USCIS say with a grain of salt after being told conflicting information on numerous occasions.

Hi, thank you for your sharing your story!

Congrats for your EAD!!!!

I don't know whether all those options works but I'll try. There is nothing else I can do besides talking to those people.

I'm tired people asking me what I do for work and telling them I'm not working. Makes me feel I'm a loser for not working...

Oh no, they are processing January 2017 for Green Card? I really thought I can get GC within six months since I got here with K-1 Visa and makes them faster to process since they already approved me to enter U.S. based on my information I provide. Oh well, as you said who knows. I have my finger crossed to all of us to get EAD and Green Card sooner!

Hello all,

I just wanted to give you my updates.

Today, I found out my I-765 and I-131 got approved! Waited for exactly 6 month...

Thank you so much for giving me advise and sharing your story.

I followed everyone's advise and I contacted one of the Senator and filed Ombudsman. And of course, called USCIS couple times.

I don't know which helped me, but a day after I received an e-mail from Ombudsman that they contacted USCIS regarding my case, I got approved.

All your advised helped me a lot. Again, thank you so much!

Hope Ilovecake and Londonergirl got approved already or will get approve soon!

Hello.

I need someone's advise who experienced same situation as me.

I applied for I-765 (Employment Authorization) last September with I-485 and I-131. I received an letter saying they received my paper work on October 2nd, 2017.

Now, it has been almost Five months! I am really worry whether my paper got lost or had any issues like missing information or something. But I haven't received any e-mail or letter from them.

I checked other people's status and many people who submit their paper after November, 2017 got approval already...

I called USCIS today and the lady I spoke to said she is going to send 'service request '. Whats worse is my husband has government health insurance and I was able to join his health insurance from this January but  I was told that they are going to remove me next week unless I show them 'proof of legal status' . I showed them a letter I received but they said they need EAD

Please share your story if you went through similar situation as me. Or how long it took you to get EAD:cry:

Thank you!

Hello,

I sent my AOS app along with my EAD+SSN & AP last November 6. I received the NOA 1 and did my biometrics on Dec. 6. After that, I didn't hear any update anymore. I just waited for the 90 days and made a service request online twice around 1st week of Feb and 3rd week of Feb. I received a mail on Mar. 23 that they got my service request and working on it already. April 4, i received an RFE for aff. of support for the recent federal income tax return. My hubby just filed his 2017 return and IRS won't give any transcript yet this fast since they just finished the filing yesterday. So crossing my fingers, i just sent them a copy of his W2 and 1040EZ as proof that he filed his tax the recent year.

If i didn't send a service request, i don't think they will even notice my case. This is crazy coz i cant do anything until now. I don't have SSN too since i applied it with my EAD.

Good luck to us.
