I think that they will re-open in another week. It would be a blessing for tomorrow, but I'm sticking with next week for right now.

Yes they are. The plates have not been changed as of yet. The other issue is that the consulate wants the street in front of the consulate closed.

This is a major street that runs across Casa. Closing that will caused a great deal of problems for Casa drivers. I'm sure they are trying to find a compromise that satisfies Morocco and the US consulate, but that compromise won't come easy.

yeah they want it closed. zakaria told me that they laughed at them bc its the largest road he told me in casa and the most important. well close it or not open the freakin embassy.

I think you should read this post. It seems that consular officials and employees are going to the consulate (it's "open" for them) but for processing visas and providing other services to the public it is not open.

The consulate's website says they're still closed to the public.

I agree that they probably aren't open to the public yet but they are in the office working so that's a huge step forward. I'm sure they have a boat load of catching up to do.

it seems (from several posts) that *they* have been there working for a couple of weeks now.... just no public service available.

Good Morning....I just wanted to let everyone know that I received a response to an email that I sent to Casa on 5/18/07. The response is dated 5/21/07 == here is what I received as a response:

Dear Madam:

The U.S. Consulate General in Casablanca is temporarily closed to the public. At this point we are unable to check if we have received your husband’s case at this office. We will be happy to answer your inquiry when full operations resume at the Consulate. Please refer to our website at http://casablanca.usconsulate.gov/submissi...lications2.html for additional information.
