We have problems every now and then around here where some idiot in an old police car that still has the spot lights will try to pull someone over and many times they are successful, so a law like that in Michigan would be nice, but to my knowledge, we do not have it.  Usually, it is some crackpot wannabe cop, but I always tell my wife if she isn't sure, she should proceed to a well lit and hopefully populated spot before pulling over.  If it is a real cop, we will deal with the whole eluding thing later.

 

OK, pet peeve, people that pull up to a stop light in the right lane on a five lane road to go straight blocking all those turning right.  I actually saw an unlucky guy one early morning that turned right from the left lane in front of the car that was stopped in the right lane.  Unfortunately for this guy there was a cop that saw it and he was stopped.

This one is an easy one for me - go Iowa! I am 1000% in favor of this law, and have long been against cameras milking people out of their hard earned money. In Israel they literally have them all over the place(both speed and traffic light) and not only has it been proven that they don't mitigate accidents, at times they only cause more accidents(some of the examples already given here are true, and also usually people who have to slow down for the cameras will "compensate" for it afterwards). One of the things I like in VT is there's not a single camera in the whole state. Don't be lazy - you want to pull people over for reckless driving?(yeah right, all they care about is speed), put an actual cruiser there.

Problem is cameras are run by private companies not the state. Hence there is a high motivation to get as many people as possible rather than punishment for breaking the law. (Point system)

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
