Affidavits for bonafide marriage relationship

Hello everyone,

 

I have three questions regarding the affidavits from family and friends for bonafide marriage relationship (CR1 visa). Thanks a lot for your help in advance!

 

-  How many affidavits would I need? I was thinking having 3 from friends, one from my father and one from my spouse's mother

- Can all affidavits have the same format? Can we use the same template? Is there any sources with good templates to use?

- Do I need the original affidavits or a scan is okay? Our friends/family live in different countries so gathering the originals is a bit hard.

1) Affidavits generally don't carry a lot of weight in many cases, so don't worry so much about getting too many of them. Focus on evidencing time spent together (photographs, passport stamps, air tickets etc.) or other proof of an ongoing marital union (e.g. joint bank accounts/ adding your spouse to your insurance etc.)

 

2) I don't think they really care about a format for affidavit. My husband's mother just wrote a simple one, dated and signed, and had it notarised. 

 

3) I can't answer this because I submitted the original but like I said, don't worry too much about this. Focus on the other evidence mentioned.

1. I had just one letter, from my mother, and I got approved.

2. The template doesn't matter, so long as the person signs it and includes their address and knowledge of the marriage and their relationship to the couple.

3. Yes, they can scan it after they sign it and then you can print it.
