Mine changed from received at local office on Feb 27th, to received March 5th.

I don't know what to think anymore, but I wish I applied for the N-400 when I was eligible.

Why are some people wishing for applying for n-400 - has not applying slowed down your process?   The reason I ask is that during my infopass appointment today the officer told me that applying for n-400 actually slows down the i-751 process because the file is no longer at california service center, in my case, and has moved to the national benefit center, which means more delay in approval of i751.   So I am confused as to why some folks like you are wishing they applied for n-400 as well ?

I've seen some people get them both in the same time. But every center is different I guess and some might be sent to local office and slow down. :)

Maybe it just depends on who your local office is? We had an appointment this past Friday for an i-551 stamp. The officer there, in Portland, Oregon, said to apply for the N400 right away. We are a CSC filer, and we still have at least six months left  as of May 2017 Roc filer. He said they get the I 751  to the local office right away and processed both of them pretty quickly from there.

It's definitely speeded up my application but I think a lot depends on how backed-up your local office is.

Good morning!

I got an update last night that my application (I-751) was transferred to another USCIS office and I should get a letter for more information. Last update I received was "Case received in my local office" on 2/26/2018. Will update here as soon as I get my letter.

I wish we hadn't applied for N-400 when we did because Minnesota is one of the most backed up offices and will surely delay our ROC. Completion date isn't till. January 2020. But we did get the new local office status for May 1st. So hopefully that means they will process ROC separate.

My suggestion is to avoid N-400 unless you know your office approves both together. It will delay your process even further

From what I understand filling N-400 doesn't hurt your I-751 because your local office won't ask for the first case until they're ready to process your citizenship. Meaning, your I-751 might be processed before your N-400 if your local office is so behind.

This theory is challenged by the version the officer gave me.   He told me that your file is at the national benefit center for pre-processing of citizenship and that file includes the I-751.  That means the file is not at california center where the I751 removal is supposed to be processed at.   So that may be one explanation why things get delayed if you apply for n-400.

Is your I-751 in California or MN? Mine gave me the standard "On March 5, 2018, we received your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, Receipt Number WAC***, at your local office.

At at USCIS Appt we had to get a extension stamp, they verified it was still in Cali. They also told us to send in our son's birth certificate as additional proof. We sent in the birth certificate and photos of him and us from when he was born through now. According to USPS, they got that file last Thursday. I hope they open up my file soon and add it in and while they are in the file, just approve my case.... wishful thinking I know:)

Same here!

But the update I got today is from the old system so I think it might be a little behind.

I think that's a good sign that both system shows the same thing. We will know for sure only when we'll get a letter by mail.

I don't know if anybody's been following the one forum that is for filing  N400 before Roc is received? There's some good information there. My impression is that there is no delay with filing, in fact it may move things a little bit faster.
