Well guess after all it wasn't a glitch. Today my case (received by local office feb 26) was updated, unfortunate with a RFE not what I was hoping for.

So guess wait continues, now with additional wonder what they want.

The 'glitch' was that it was misleading to say received at local office, when all that really happened was your file was moved from one location to another location within the same building.

But moving to this second location might mean (and seems it did in your case) that someone might actually start to read the submitted documents.

What disappoints me is that it takes them 17 months to find out they need 'more' evidence. Why don't do a quick review when they receive the package so meanwhile you could already added more evidence while the wait started.

First of I.am SO SORRY you were treated like that. They only treated you that way out of ignorance. Do not be deterred. Good for you for standing your ground!

Secondly. NO THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO YOU. Their job is to capture your biometric information only.

They cannot change the out come of your background findings. Worst case they can delay to submit them....but you can file inquiries etc if it come to that.

Other than that NOTHING!

You are not walking a thin line applying for your citizenship. You are simply exercising your right.

Goodluck. 🤗

Thank you for your encouragement! I'm just scared I'll go to my N-400 interview and they won't know enough about dealing with the applications pending... the woman told me that if I'll have the N-400 interview first I will be denied no matter what. Now I've read a lot here and I know that's not right but I'm still scared...

No they won't deny you simply because you have a pending i751 they just will delay your approval. However, if they do deay you, once your i751 is approved you can reapply for naturalization. Denial of citizenship does not mean automatic removal.  The good news for you is you have an REF in hand, i would suggest responding to that quickly with good evidence requested and it will make it easier for you to defend your case to the IO when you go to your naturaization interview.  Remember its they job to find a reason to deny you, and its your job to give them reason to approve you. Don't let fear distract you. Stay focused you are almost at the finish line.

Thank you again for replying! My I-751 is pending since 1/25/2017, I didn't get an REF...

Sorry i had responded to you thinking I was responding to someone else.

So i would suggest to be Very prepared for that type of situation because it does sound like that could come up. Here was I suggest (contact a lawyer and ask for their opinion and ask the to tell you were in the official Law it says that you can apply for naturalization with pending i751. Once the lawyer lets you go online and print that information and make sure you have to web address as referenced. Second I would go to the usics official website and find were it talks about eligibiity for filing for naturalization. Have those documents ready to show your IO so if they are uneduated they will be able to see the information in writing from their own website.

Remember even though we are immigrants applying for benefits we have rights. And applying for naturalization is a right and a privillage.

Make sure you have all that information to state your case. A papertrail is better than a verbal expliantion. Especially with government officils who deal with thousand of people a day. Also of you can make another info pass appointment and as the IO to give you something in writing that says its ok for you to apply for n400.

I really wanna know if Germany is the only country where you need to get a " certificate" before you file for citizenship from another country. I would automatically loose my german citizenship if I apply for the American. To even get the certificate it takes 6-8 months and cost me $1800-$2000 and after I finally get this certificate from the german government, i can go ahead and apply for US Citizenship. I would love to apply for N400 but I would also loose my Citizenship which I want to keep just in case.

Im really not sure but this might be a good start for you. I suggest following the Germany country and see if you can post your question there so other Germans can chime in for you..

I am November 2015 I-751 filer at Vermont Office (28 months + pending).

On February 27, 2018 our case finally appeared on both https://my.uscis.gov/account/applicant and  https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/logon.do, stating " February 26, 2018 We received your case" on the first website and "Case Was Received at My Local Office on February 27, 2018" on the second website.

I checked 500 cases before and 500 cases after our case number. All visible 147 applications are pending for 28 months; all are I751Vermont Office filers from November 2015; all have just been logged in (February 25, 2018 - March 27, 2018 about 1-20 cases per day), with exactly same messages on both websites.

Submitted all of this information to our lawyers and Congressman to review and investigate.

Any November 2015 Filers there? Looking for people from those 147 pending applications. PM to join forces.

Wow sounds to me like they lost a whole stack of files from Nov 2015 and just recently found them!

Based upon what I am reading, I would not put any faith in the new update on the USCIS website.  I am an October 2016 filer.  It shows in February 2018 the case was received by the local office.  It hard to believe that everyone's case was sent at once to the local office.
