Perhaps the best way to avoid being so frustrated is to turn off notifications for this thread, don't check USCIS, and assume it'll be another year or so before anything happens.  Then let it go.  Strangely, my husband and I decided to check the USCIS website ON February 26th, and saw his case was "transferred."  Since then, we've been on USCIS a thousand times, and on VJ about a million.  And all it's gotten us is frustration.  Enough.  I'm going back to assuming it'll never be an efficient system, and when his green card finally shows up, it'll be a pleasant surprise.  This is nuts.  :(

Amen to that !

It sucks when your life decisions depend on those RoC being lifted, decide if you can travel more often to your home country, decide if you can move to another state, or decide if you can still live with the person who jointly filed with you or not. BUT NO, EVERYTHING HAS TO BE DECIDED AROUND THIS DUMB RoC.

Sorry about the caps, it's frustrating.

Exactly!

I would get email notifications and briefly skim them without actually getting onto VJ.  But, since this debacle I'm glued.  It's frustrating as heck and I see and feel the time go by !!.  I gotta rise above.

I completely agree with you, this whole ROC is a total waste of ###### time and unneccessary.

^complete waste of time and dosh but we can blame fraud/abuse for there being a need for the conditional tag.

as for the case notification. - regardless it kind of breaks up the long wait so I can appreciate it for that alone.

Just a datapoint:

So my case is a Nov 2017 filer,

I had not recieved my Biometric apt until late Feb.

Regarding "Local Office",

Mine updated around Feb 26 -> local office

Then again on March 5 -> local office

Went to biometrics apt last week March 8, everything went smoothly.

Checked status today, and it still says March 5, local office.

hey jade,

it was weird. I received initial NOA within a week of my Nov 2017 date.

Didnt get the 2nd NOA letter which has the bio date.

Waited, waited waited.

A month ago, i saw that most of Nov 2017 had already had their apt.

read up on the forums recommended action (call USCIS and get to Level 2)

Called USCIS,

I did callback cause they said 6h wait,

and they called me back in 2h, but the applicant (wife) wasnt with me and the officer wouldnt discuss with RoC with me the Petitioner. So i proceeded to ask "Generically if a I-751 is filed and the Applicant didnt recieve the biometerics in 2.5 months, what should they do?".  He answered.

A few days later I got the NOA2 with biometrics apt.

So did my "unsuccessful" phone call result in the NOA2 or was it coming regardless?

who knows.

BTW, I did almost go to the biometrics apt before my actual date, but something came up.  i'd recommend it.

Yea man its crazy who knows.

I did everything you did and they just told me to wait and that i've been added to this "automatic scheduler".

I was mainly stressing because I've seen some cases that were denied because they didnt go to biometrics... but since im 5 months in. I believe that isnt the case anymore.

I've also seen cases approved without biometrics.

My latest update was to "if you dont receive a notice by March 29 on your case being transfered. submit case inquiry"

So kind of just waiting until then.

I get that; it totally sucks.  :(   But I'd counter to say that your life decisions do NOT actually revolve around ROC.  Unless you're waiting for it to move out of the country.  We've visited South Africa twice since this all began.  We've been to Europe, Canada, and Mexico also.  None of this made traveling out of the country impossible, or even difficult.  As for moving, you can simply put in a change of address.  No big deal. You've already been approved permanent resident status.  This is supposed to be the easier hoop to jump through.  Pain in the butt, yes.  Keeping you from living your life?  No. Unless I'm missing something, and your case is more convoluted than the norm?

We've been wanting to move but given their stellar record of sending green cards to old addresses despite sending in an address change form and then demanding hundreds of dollars for a replacement, I figure it's better to stay in our current location until the card is in my hands. Been wanting to move for over a year now but I'm sure USCIS assumes we do not have lives to be getting on with.

Edit to add that some people have found difficulty being approved for mortgages due to the lender thinking they will not be in the country past the expiry of the extension letter/stamp.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.
