If you guys check July 2017 filers there are two people (CSC) received approval letters in mail after all these glitches... And their tracking numbers still remain the same (was transferred to a local office). So still have a hope here...

I only saw one.  Can you name the two you saw?

But remember, there are always going to be outliers (those who receive extremely early and extremely late), so such happenings do not really indicate anything in general.

Same thing happened with AOS.  Some extremely early, some extremely late.

Ours too. Talked to USCIS today, Tier 2. She claimed the case is still with CSC, no tranfer has had happened and she doesn´t see any transfer info in my account. She really was in a hurry to get rid of me when I asked her over and over again why I DO see the transfer info in MyUSCIS account.

Hello everyone,

Iv been silently following this forum because i have had nothing of substance to contribute. However, i am just leaving my local field office. (Dallas) (Went for an i551 stamp). The IO confirmed that my case is still indeed at CSC. She said she could not speak to why the online status was giving me differant information, all she knew from the computer was that my case is still in cali. She took my passport and asked me to go back tonthe waiting area. 20 minutes later called me to the window and confirmed again that my case was in Cali and returned my passport to me with a year long stamp. (She did not take my green card or extention letter, she didn't even ask for them).

My case had last week shown that on 2/26/2018 it was received at the local office and i checked it again this morning before going into my appt and it had updated to "case recieved on 3/5/2018 At local office".

My NOA is 12/22/2016

Bio - 1/23/207

Stamp i551 - 3/5/2018

Looks like we will also need to do this in the next month for my husband and stepson, who has traveled with a copy of the expiration letter with no issues at all.  He spends the summer with his mother in England, so the letter will be expired before he leaves.  As for it being law that he and my husband always have their green cards with them, what kind of ridiculousness is this that they can't even have a proper, unexpired green card.  Clearly, they won't be carrying their passports around once the letter expires.  I guess at this point, my advice would be to expect to NEVER be approved, then when you are, it's a pleasant surprise.  >:(

I see some are applying for an i-551 before their extension letters expires. Can you tell me how to do this? Hubby is going on a trip in July , letter expires in May. We would really like to have something more secure in place considering last July we traveled with only a photocopy of his letter and he had to stay in Mexico for three extra days because we didn't have the original. I guess our mistake, but you would think that traveling with a copy and the green card would have been good enough? Or the letter should have at least told you to travel with the original LOL

My personal experience: I filed in December 2016, received the extension letter. that same month.  I had to travel out of the country in December of 2017, so I got an Infopass in late November 2017 and the agent told me that the extension is good for a year after the letter is issued, not for a year after the GC expires (in my case, March 2017). So he went ahead and put a stamp on my passport. He did not take my GC or extension letter at all. Other people have had different experiences, just to stay on the safe side, I would get the stamp before your letter expires or before your GC expires, whichever is first.

I would definitely suggest getting the stamp before they travel out of the country. Having vaild paperwork always makes things easier in general. Epically when it comes to dealing with immigration officals. For general day to day activities within the country im sure a photocopy would of their passport should suffice 🤞🏼. But yes,  have them get the stamp before they leave. It will also help with the airlines, they might not allow them to travel back on expired paperwork.

& you are right, not thinking about it, so when something happens it will be a surprise has been my strategy as well 😓

That agent was wrong, but it was unclear to many people, including that agent apparently.

The Extension letters now specifically state it is one year from the expiration date on Green Card.

Don't know exactly when the wording was clarified, but was there on the July 2017 Extension letters.

Friend of mine got her approval CSC center today. It came from original Cali center.

Well I'm not surprised since she was Sep 20th 2016 filer. But the thing is she had exact the same transfer notice on her first number and today it still remains the same but the date has changed to March 5th and still shows it's in her local office. The second number hasn't changed, still shows case was received. So seems they don't update any approvals on their site.

Anyway just wanted to share this.

Another case for the glitch.

Now I am wondering if there is an even bigger problem with their system that is affecting the biometrics processing?

Whatever the case, may this happen only with ROC and not on the N-400!

He will need an InfoPass appointment:

https://www.uscis.gov/tools/your-guide-infopass

If you can't get an appointment right away, that's common... try to check around midnight; the slots should start to open up.

Have him bring his passport, greencard, and extension letter to the appointment and tell them the extension letter is expiring soon and he will be traveling (bring proof of plane tickets if you can) and needs a stamp to prove his status. Make sure you have a copy of the expired greencard scanned/saved somewhere in case they take it.
