Claim Deceased Spouse's Benefits

Background: Both of these women are living outside the US. One is a widow, the other has a living husband who only visits her once or twice a year. 

 

Question#1: Can my widow friend claim survivor's benefit? She's 37. No children.

 

Question#2: Is their a way for my other friend to be added to her husband's insurance even though she is not in the US?

That depends on the insurance company/policy. However, most plans do not cover much when traveling abroad, let alone anything when living abroad. And US plans are crazy expensive compared to the rest of the world. It would be better to get an insurance plan where she lives.

If you are referring to health insurance, yes, it is possible to add although as stated by the above poster, there are no good reasons to do so. Costly and usually with a sizeable chunk of out-of-pocket payment (compared to what I get in my home country. I am going to miss it.) If you are referring to life insurance, yes, you can add as well.
