All, I am a may 2017 filer and posted this in may 2017 forum but posting here too.  I just read that we need to send the IRS transcripts from IRS website. I sent the H&R block copies for 2014, 2015, 2016. I am just so upset that we did not send the ones from IRS.

Below is what we sent,

A check for $680 for I-751 and Biometric Fee
Form I-751, completed and signed
Copy of USCIS Form I-551 (Permanent Resident Card) of AAA

When we sent in our AoS in 2016 we sent our 2015 tax return with it, no transcripts.  Granted I was the only one who worked that year, but we did file jointly so it makes the difference to show co-mingling and legit marriage.  It was a joint return along with all the other paperwork we had to send.  They never asked for transcripts.  I can't imagine why it would be necessary.  I read the post you are referring to.  That seems to be literally the only case that I've seen someone requesting that.  It's possible there was an issue with their tax returns, but that whole situation seems like extenuating circumstances to me.  For our RoC we sent the tax returns for 2015, 2016 and 2017.  I honestly don't think it will be an issue.

The I-751 even says that evidence could include Federal and State tax returns...  No where does it say that IRS transcripts are required

YMMV

Don't sweat it.  USCIS likes transcripts because they are short and concise, and they PROVE you filed your tax returns.  But tax returns are OK, as well, and lordy, you sure had a lot of good evidence to go along with your submission!

Transcripts are NOT required.  Filing your tax returns IS required.

So breathe deeply, and relax.
