your fingerprints, and mine, are in the fbi database. and we're not ex-cons are we?

You make it sound like it takes 5 seconds to run a search on the guys background having only his fingerprints...

i fail to see how you gather that from my post........

His point is that they're keeping these things for reference, not on-the-spot background checks.

BTW, the chocolate chip cookie dough meal bars are really good, for your reference. :) :gulp gulp:

Not only then but ... and example is: for my new DL in TX last year ... left thumb ... right thumb ... smile (followed by blinding flash ..)

Does TX keep these records only in TX ? I don't know. I have an unconfirmed feeling the data is shared.

So, what is exactly the point of fingerprinting people at poe? besides wasting tax money?

fingerprinting: I think it's not a very effective way to foil terror plans, and will probably never deter any terrorism, but may serve other purposes. Are those purposes worth billions and, less importantly but still important, humiliating all our guests?

diet bars: just tried the chocolate chip so far. we also have a protein one but I haven't had it. Tomorrow...

if fingerprinting saves us from one plot, isn't it worth it? and how would we really know if such does actually work? we won't.

I was fingerprinted at least 2 times in my fine country (for identification purposes) and there they don't have these fancy fingerprinting computers. I dont really care about fingerprinting, but having black ink on your fingers for a week is a pain

ETA: this quick edit feature is the best feature in vj...

so when you enter the country (USA) your fingerprints can be checked against your fingerprints taken at the consulate (in Brazil) when you obtainied your visa.

It could be rather interesting if you arrived at the POE and the prints didn't match ... :o

The US consulate uses the same technology as the POE.

Can't speak for the brazilian "ink method" or the funding made available for the manual record keeping and cross referencing, as apposed to an electronic version. I feel confident there is a reason for brazil to keep this type of record. Any ideas?
