My dad is getting married in September - unfortunately my fiance will miss that one because he's limited on time he can take off work and we have our "honeymoon" hopefully in November (We're just going to the other side of Florida but it counts!).

The process does suck; before I checked out the backlog, when we submitted I was worried I would have too much time between interview and POE.

Sooo sorry you're missing a wedding next month, I'll keep my fingers crossed that you can POE in early September for the other one

Oh, I’m sorry to hear your fiancé misses your dads wedding. This is the hardest of the process, missing all these big and important things. Hugs!

P.S we’re thinking of going to Florida for our honeymoon, too!

I am loving reading everyone’s positive posts and helping each other stay motivated. It definitely helps me maintain a positive mindset that God willing POE can possibly be September. I just keep saying to myself over and over and over we are all almost halfway there and we can do it😝😝😝😝😝

@SMK 89 and @D&B My received date was January 12, 2018 and notice date was January 18, 2018.

I am not sure how it is for Alberta Health and Ontario Health but I called my regional health authority to request my immunization record be mailed to me.  On the immunization record mailed to me it indicated the vaccines I received, the dates on it, and if there are any vaccines I have missed out on.  So that part is straight forward.  And from what I read if you’re missing a vaccine it won’t matter too much for the k-1 visa process but for the AOS you will have to be up to US standards.

My Catholic ceremony in Canada is kind of planned out but the civil wedding in NJ will be planned as is.  I’ll take whatever just as long as we are married and apply for my AOS  that’s the important part.

I took my application photos in Costco, NJ so it was up to their standards.  Thanks for the info @SMK 89 in regards to shoppers drug mart I hope Costco will do the same since we all know Costco has the lowest pricing on passport photos.

I am so happy we all can share/give each other information.  Easier to have people within the same country.  We may even run into each other during interviews in Montreal without even knowing it!

Cheers to the weekend and to our k-1 Visa journey ❤️.

@Jlomartin Yes, you are correct on the vaccinations and what is mandatory during the K-1 stage versus at the AOS stage. I guess I'm trying to control everything I can since I feel so out of control/helpless during this stage of the process lol!

I really hope that the noticed wait time "shrinkages" are legitimate and not a fluke trend! I want to stay positive and am praying the gap just continues to tighten up! I am sure we will keep in touch on the Canada side of things as we have the only one embassy where we will all be going. On a side note, this is totally shocking to me - I mean it's Canada and we only have one embassy processing these visa's? I shouldn't be complaining because compared to western Canadians I am closer to Montreal in Ontario, but still! Oh well, it is what it is and I am sending nothing but positive friendly vibes to all those in that Embassy that will be touching our cases and helping us re-unite with our loved ones quickly! I hope they are also getting better and better with their timelines (fingers crossed, i'm praying) so that we aren't waiting almost a full NOA2 timeframe for the K1. Maybe they just needed some more man/woman power...if so, I hope they're getting what they need to get things moving a lot quicker :)

To all us "jannies" - I'm wishing us all the best of luck and hoping that we can all post about how surprisingly quick the process is moving along versus our worst fears!!! :)

@SMK 89 I assume you will get your medical in Toronto, but @Jlomartin are you aware of your plans for the medical/interview process yet? I am debating between flying to Vancouver and getting the medical done there or flying into Montreal a week before the interview to complete everything at once. I think spending a week in Montreal may be pricier than a separate Vancouver trip, but then again I have never been to Montreal and it may be nice to spend a week. Decisions, decisions....If only I had a short amount of time to make a decision and stick with it. All this time is allowing me to bounce back and forth between plans.

I am confused about the vaccination requirements. I too read about vaccinations being a requirement for AOS yet when I reviewed the doctor's website in Surrey BC it appears it was a requirement for the K1. Perhaps I am interpreting wrong. Sometimes I worry too  much. Oh it will be fun getting my immunization records. I had some in Ontario, some in Alberta and some in BC. The titer test may be much simpler.

@SMK 89 and @Jlomartin will you be flying in for your POE or are you driving a vehicle? I am actually planning on driving my vehicle to Nashville......

@D&B and @Jlomartin - I think part of the medical exam during K-1 is to establish the history so they can put in finite terms what you have to get done before the AOS medical as well. That's why i'm thinking if EVERYTHING they need for AOS is up to date, then it might somehow just help with the NOA2 to K1 approval process. In all honesty, since we're in Canada and all of the mandatory "age appropriate" vaccines are publicly-funded (I believe they are across Canada, they are in Ontario) - midaswell just get everything you need based on the titer test updated/done. And then, it's one less thing to worry about in the AOS process too :)

I am not sure if I will be flying or driving to be quite honest. I think it depends on how the interview is scheduled and what my fiancee can or cannot take off of work. If He can just come for the interview but then has to fly back for work (he also has to be all over the US for work at times for work), then I will probably go home to my parents in London and in all honesty just pack two big suitcases of my fav. clothes/necessities and fly to nashville. In all reality, a lot of my furniture and such I would probably leave for my parents and friends versus shipping it to Nashville. I guess we will wait and see as the timeframes become clearer! If I drive it will probably be across the Detroit/Windsor area.

What are y’all estimating for POE, barring exceptional holdups? I’m thinking late Sept/early Oct probably for us. Currently living abroad with my fiancé, so I’m trying to decide when I should quit this job and plan to move back stateside...

I'm hoping I receive my NOA2 before I leave Nashville May 3rd and can go back to Calgary and start the necessary next steps. A girl can hope can't she???? lol Now to get back to reality, I am hoping and praying for a September POE but that may not be a reality if there is too long of a wait for the Montreal consulate interview. I wish I had more of an accurate idea on the interview wait time in Canada.

I agree @SMK 89 - if we get vaccinations all done now we will have one less thing on our plates.

@SMK 89 My fiancé will be flying to Calgary and we'll do the LONG DRIVE back to Nashville together. That being said his work may interfere and in that case I will probably just ship my vehicle. I looked into ABF UPack and that looks like the best option for me to move my belongings. They don't use drop off containers in Calgary but you get self-loading space in their trailer - they either drop the trailer off or you can bring your stuff to their depot. It seems to be the most cost effective way to move for me and I've moved so much in my life I could be a professional packer so not a problem to pack what I'm bringing....lol

@SMK 89 and @Jlomartin Have you thought about medical coverage at POE before you marry? Once I'm married my fiancé will be able to cover me but wondering what to do prior to that. I have always purchased travel medical insurance for my visits to the US but I have a feeling that won't be a possibility if I'm giving up my Canadian residency. Will have to look into that.

Hope everyone has a wonderful start to their week and I'm hoping we see lots and lots of approvals for the months prior to ours which brings us many steps closer to our turn...

I wonder why they no longer process these visas at the Vancouver consulate? I believe this was a recent change in the last few years but why? and @SMK 89 you have every right to complain - I am shocked as well. Although if you recall the CBP officer at the Calgary airport indicated I could get the visa in Calgary.....maybe there's something we don't know.....IF ONLY lol
