I have to give my fiance a pep talk at least once a month on the move to the USA he loves me and wants to be with me but the fear of the unknown gets the best of him sometime.....

I also have to speak to my fiance about life in America and knowing that what you see in movies, is not what happens here in our day to day lives. i know adjusting for her will be be challenging because you have relearn new systems, ways of life and culture to adjust to life here. One of the most challenging things is understanding that America is a politically correct country, you have watch what you say to people so as to not offend anyone, Yes we have free speech but you have to be mindful of what you say and how you say it. She is used to being more direct and straight forward with people, i have told her, you have to be careful with that here because you might be direct with someone at work and that person might go to human resources and next thing you know, you have lost your job. this is a different country and different way of life but many have adjusted to the system like i am sure many of you, will do the same. i am certain your significant others will guide and coach you in the way to be successful here because we all want our fiances to come and be successful!

This is so true! its not what you say its how you say it and that goes for us that were born here and raised here in the USA... I think my fiance will catch on to the ropes pretty fast he is a quick learner and I have been educated him as much as possible plus he has traveled the world so is open to a new and different way of life.

Anyone else hit a point where they want time to both fly by and slow down?

I want to be with my fiancé and am super excited to marry him, but I'm super nervous about how well adjusting to life in the US is going to go!

I'm the petitioner, but, yes, I agree with the first sentiment. I need time to hurry the hell up so that I can just have my fiancé at home with me, but I also need time to slow down so I can catch up on work. He's having a difficult time waiting to get out of Brazil, and I'm struggling with the fact that I have absolutely no way of influencing the process (can you tell that I have some control issues? :p). During our last visit, I spent a day doing work stuff while we were together. I was pretty grumpy about it but he was excited to watch me work. He called it a domestic preview of our future together.

I'm trying not to get too hopeful but I'm desperately wishing for an early June NOA2 (yes, I know that isn't realistic, but it would be a great birthday present). I am so much more of a functional person when he's around - can't wait to bring him home!

@Deehotstepper, hope your fiance can visit and you both enjoy a little preview of domestic life when he's in the US. I've never thought life there was like what we see on the movies. Visiting him giving me a clear idea about his daily life and how we would spend it together. Explore the neighborhood together. Go to hockey rink when he's playing. You know simple things in life. But T

The first week  after I go home, my fiance would go crazy because he missing me. So every time I'm leaving it will always be the hardest time.

We're lucky we have similar values. His family values are as strong as mine. As Asian we take care of each other in the family and get together once in a while. It's the same with his family too. That's when even though we have different culture, we find something we can relate to.

I agree about political correctness and in my view it can get too hypocrite. Having worked with Americans here in US government agency helps me to get the sense of it. Everytime my anxieties get me, that's when we talk about it. It wouldn't be easy but I know I have my fiance's back. The excitement of being together with him then comes up again. That's why I love him so much!

Having control issues myself, I find this is the hardest!  Not having a concrete time frame and having no control is really challenging! 😫

I know it’s insane! The most challenging part is waiting.....I look at uscis and the date keeps going up...but here on vj it’s going down. An approval of June/July would be awesome if he could be here by end of October that would be aaaaaamazing! Would LOVE to get married on New Year’s Eve. Wishing us all “control” during this time

Calling those who have been giving us scan @Naes @Daniel P. Maybe you can teach us, jannies, on how to scan and see how far the progress is going now? @Naes has been telling us she couldn't get January filers numbers correctly because of so many validation errors from December filers. When the time is getting closer, I will get more and more anxious. Oh gosh! I wish this process could finish sooner!

Have you also looked at every possible outcome? I've gone through Brazilian consulate reviews, paperwork checklists, DS-160 instructions, etc a million times over. I actually filed my taxes at the end of January just so I could get the return ready for the I-134 (which I already filled out :P, just so that it's ready to go). I even pulled his federal police certificate just to see if I could haha
