This is great....I have a question, if the notice date on the letter says 19th January and it was received in the mail on the 13th of February, when asked the NOA1 date which one should I give

@Naes scans are based on Received Dates (...Feb. 13th for you).

So, if on VJ, you can insert your Received Date.

Go by the received date (meaning the date they received it at USCIS not the date you received your hard copy) I hope that didnt confuse you lol so for NOA1  the date they received your app would be your NOA1 date. Also If you are infact a Feb filer there is a Feb 2018 group started already as well. I assume you meant Jan 19th was ur notice date and Jan 13th not feb 13th was your received date.

I'm beneficiary and now visiting my USC petitioner. I was worried the CBP would ask me many things. I know from the posts I read here on VJ, they might not know if we're applying for K-1 (maybe they will once our case is touched) but I brought documents with me for showing the strong ties to my country and I wouldn't abuse the visitor Visa by overstaying or even start the AOS. The officer didn't bring up anything about the visa application. He just asked me why am I visiting the US, for how long and who lives in the address I wrote on immigration paper. I answered those questions truthfully without spiling too much information. Just short and required answer and he let me through. I haven't checked VJ these days because I've been busy catching up our lives and preparing our engagement party. So happy when I checked our timeline it has move up by 5 days. I can't believe it! So excited here!!

Does anybody know if its okay for the beneficiary to reside in the U.S. on a B2 Visa while waiting for it to be approved or are we taking risks by doing this?

My fiance is Canadian and she will be here again on July to visit family and by the way things are going it seems like she should get her approval within that time period of July-August *crossing finger*.  We all know that on a B2 visa the tourist can stay in the U.S. for up to 6 months.  If we get our NOA2 and she does her medical and interview in Montreal (hypothetically speaking) if all goes well do they issue out the passport for entry or do they hold on to the Canadian passport for x amount of weeks/days and send it over to her home address in Canada and she will have to re-enter this time on a K1 visa not for the regular B2?

Thanks for everyones feedback!  This is so exciting praying that this continues to run smooth and no delays! :) Happy March, January Filers!

My first post - I'm the beneficiary living in Canada. Thought I'd chime in here as I've had a little experience with longer and frequent visits to the US to see my fiancé. I am currently in the US on a B2 visa visiting my fiancé. My B2 visa expires in May and this is the first time I will be visiting as long as I can. You want to be really careful using the word "reside" when on a B2 Visa. I'm sure you meant "visit" but unfortunately "reside" will raise eyebrows at the border.

Yes, Canadians can visit for a period of up to six months and I'm so very fortunate I've been able to spend so much time with my fiancé, but I am very clear when I cross the border that I am visiting only. I have never had any problems with  my extended visits to the US but I am always prepared with my proof of ties to Canada and always spend more than 30 days in Canada after my visit. I am chatty and completely honest with the CBP officers (agents??? what do we call them???) and I have never had any issues nor been asked to provide proof of my ties to Canada. When I entered the US in November I was asked if there was a marriage proposal in the works and I simply responded with most definitely, and proceeded to let him know I was aware of the K1 process etc.

So to answer your question, no, it's not ok for your fiancé to "reside" in the US ever on a B2 visa, but most definitely she can visit. I would just be prepared with much documentation to prove she's still residing in Canada and intends to return.

I intend on visiting my fiancé frequently until we receive the NOA2 and if it happens to arrive when I am in the US the celebration will be so much sweeter.

From what I have read, after the interview the passport is kept in Montreal and couriered to your fiancé's Canadian address at which time her next entry to the US will be on the K1 visa.

Here's hoping the next few months fly by and the entire process speeds up a little!

I did mean to say visit.  So I think if the Montreal U.S. consulate will be holding on to the passport and mailing it to my fiance's  Canadian address then she should continue to work until she receives her passport with K1 visa.  Makes much more sense.  Thanks for the feedback, greatly appreciated.
