That was one of the things that kept me busy... I also painted a few rooms of the house, got my step-daughters room ready for her, donating more unwanted or unneeded things, shopping for a few items it would be better to have my for fiance when she comes or for my step-daughter, working on a side business I started a year or so ago, reading VJ, reading other things, being bored sometimes, cleaning the house again, organizing what few things i had decided I wanted to keep..

One of the coolest things I did was make a few lists, and then I wrote them on color coded popsicle sticks and put them all in a jar. When we want to do something and nothing is coming to mind, I pick the appropriate stick out and we perhaps do that, or draw again. I thought it would be cute. I also determined it's going to take us about 6 years to do more of the things just in this local area (not counting most of the vacations).

  • Restaurants I wanted to take her to, both fast casual & "date night" type places
  • Indoor activities in the area
  • Outdoor activities in the area
  • Nearby city downtown areas, and being in the Chicago Burbs, there's a lot!
  • Shopping Malls & Grocery stores (to show her the variety of choices)
  • Weekend vacation spots & Week-long vacation spots

Oh wow how awesome is that! I felt so much better getting rid of the unwanted or non-needed things I too have painted and rearranged some things too.....I have also made a mental note of the things I would like to do or take him to once he arrives...but I have never thought about putting them on popsicle sticks that is a great idea I think I will do something like that too.... Awesome Ideas you have here

I live in the country with my parents while waiting for my fiance to move & us find a house so there is always loads to do - gardening, mowing, repairs, animal caretaking. But I guess I decided all that wasn't enough & bought some ducks in a fit of madness. They will be arriving this week & I have been building a little house & outdoor pen for them.

OH WOW! pls be sure to keep us posted on the ducks arrival and the progress of the outdoor pen I am a CITY GIRL! and when I hear of stories of folks living on farms or land as big as a farm it is unimaginable to me or undesirable to me in all honesty lol

Yes. We planned Oct 21 which seemed quite generous at the time given we only had knowledge of 2016 & early 2017 processing times then. I know we'll make it but he was planning POE in August which is unlikely now. If he comes in Sept we will likely go to the courthouse mainly to get employment authorization in the works so he can find a job asap. There will be a party of some kind Oct 21!

I'm a little confused and just want make sure that I understand you and if I can help you understand something I will offer it up for consideration. You said you are going to the courthouse mainly to get employment authorization in the works.  The beneficiary cannot begin work until he has the EAD document and a social security number.  I know it's early in the process and you probably have not had the opportunity to look at what is required in filing the AOS package once he arrives here and you are married.

what's the problem with AOS? That was my plan too, get married early to apply for EAD asap. Social security is very fast, it's the EAD that takes a few months.

From what I read, you can apply for EAD along with your AOS as soon as you get married. I am aware it still takes 45-90 days to get EAD (or longer in today's processing times but hopefully not). You can actually apply for EAD once you have your K1 visa but since K1 is only good for 90 days there doesn't seem to be any point since the EAD expires with the visa.

Hello my fellow january filers, im on day 171 since noa1, im planning a vacation to visit my fiance from july 20 to august 10 in the Philippines i have some concerns hopfully someone has some taughtful input it is much appreciated.

my concern is i would receive a rfe but hoping for a approval when im out the states and wont be able to reply to a rfe until i return on august 10th is there a timeline to respond to rfe ? I am registered for alerts for both new and old website.

Also would like to start preparing the necessary documents my fiance will need for the interview affidavid of support 3 years tax transcripts w2 etc ... and leave them with her would that be to early to leave them with her im thinking it would be convenient instead of mailing them to her

im excited to see her again and hopefull all of us january filers will receive approvals in the coming weeks.

We're planning a trip to the Philippines too, just around the same time that you are.  It must be a very exciting time for you and your loved one.  I'd like to offer some help based on what I've read in your posting here.  If you continue to follow your progress prior to receiving the Norway two you should be able to find out if there's an RFE coming your way.  If there is and you are still in the Philippines maybe you can have a family member that will retrieve your mail and open up the mail containing the RFE and send it to you via e-mail.

The necessary documents that you refer to in your posting is not correct let me give you some links to the correct information that you can follow.

Once you receive your case number it's time to be in charge of what time you choose when things get down. To smooth that trail for your I have a few things that will help you process your visa there in the Philippines.

Start by visiting Hanks site where he has taken the time and research, and of course it helps if you spent 8 plus years helping folks in the Philippines sub-forum get their visas, where he has listed each step. With those steps he includes the what, when and why to completing the item. Many have used the website and have had little or NO problems securing a visa from USEM.

http://www.visaconnection-philippines.com/k-1-visa-application.html

Next you'll want to connect with those who are processing through the Philippines in the VJ Philippines sub-forum that way you will be with like minded ppl who are sharing their experiences and also asking and answering questions. Since most in this thread are processing through another country they would be hard pressed to explain what is needed for the Philippines.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/129-philippines/

You'll find this on Hank's website but I will give it to you early and that is the Packet 3 Letter for USEM. It's found here:

https://ph.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/fiancee-visa/the-interview/

Here is the Packet 3 letter.

https://ph.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/82/2016/08/K1-and-K2-Applicant-Interview-Preparation-Instructions-08112016-English-336KB.pdf

There you have it. Everything you need to get your visa. Good luck and smooth sailing.

Yes, I agree.  If you file the EAD early you'll pay a filing fee.  If you wait to submit it with your IE-485 then you can file it at no charge.

There is no problem with the AOS but you did say you were "going to the courthouse mainly to get employment authorization in the works" which is why I replied. If your going there for some other reason, then ignore my "help". You don't file EAD or the AOS at the courthouse, hence my confusion. Never mind.

I don't go there often, but I have had to enter the one time code each time.
