Hi y'all ! Has anyone here gotten their NOA2??! I'm extremely confused , when we applied we thought we would be done by August but now it seems like November December is when we'll finalize it all . Just wondering if any of y'all have heard back on your cases and if we share the same thoughts

If you are a January file, you should probably expect to get your NOA2 in July if you're lucky and August if you're not, and then be ready to come to the US more like September/October.

They are currently working on trying finish up the 2nd half of November and have just barely gotten started on December.

I know you can't give me a definite answer but for a January 2nd NOA1 whats my realistic POE looking like?

Of course im just saying for like early January filers for poe

I can't figure out how to answer your question without sounding like a complete jerk... so I'm just going to change up and repeat what I said and see if it makes a difference...

If you're lucky... you will probably get your NOA2 sometime in July.... which would, in general, correspond to most people being ready for a September POE. But, if your'e unlucky, you might not get your NOA2 until sometime in August... which will most likely, in general, correspond to being ready for POE in October.

Some people can get NOA2 -> POE in 30 days, but most people aren't that on top of things, or need to schedule travel ahead of time to deal with flight costs, and every embassy is different, and how quickly do you do things like prep for the medical exam, interview, etc... I would say the average is about 60 days after NOA2 based on the gut feeling from seeing people post here / people I know in person.

So I guess the question is... can you predict how lucky you will be?

That's actually quite a relief hearing the September/ October timeline if everything goes smoothly.  Thanks for breaking it down and putting my mind at ease!!!

Haha i guess I have no way of knowing that. I'm not trying to aggravate you I appreciate your dedication here.

Just looking for some hope to grab onto. Left my fiancee yesterday for the last time until she gets here and I told her I would probably see her early September here.

nope, nothing yet. I don't think they have started january yet. hopefully we can see some approvals next month.

its funny when you say finalize it all, just started looking at the next part of the process (AOS etc). it seems like its never going to end!

Hopefully next month this forum will flood with NOA2 notifications ! Another person said maybe September October and the other half could be in the states so that was a relief! haha yes the process never ends but it's better than that December anticipated time line.

So with an estimated NOA2 of early August as a worst case scenario, I could expect to have a interview around September/October?

Im in a bit of a tough situation in regards to the interview, there may be a need to reschedule my interview as I’ll possibly be out of the country from mid sep to mid Oct. Is there any big issue with rescheduling a visa interview? Ideally I’d love to get the interview done before I’m out of the country but now I’m thinking that would be highly unlikely. Might have to cancel my trip :(

Keep in mind at the interview they will take your passport and your wont' get it back until about a week later. Not really a good idea to be making international travel plans around the time of your interview. Either hold off on the interview until you get back, or hold off on your trip until the interview is done and your have your passport back.

It really hard to predict when you might have your interview, USCIS and the NVC and your embassy could speed up or slow down between now and then, it's hard to say.

Is it possible for you to expedite at nvc stage? I heard its much easier to do at that stage.

Thanks for the help, the trip was booked before the K1 was submitted. Be a real shame to have to cancel it, fingers crossed I don’t have to!

@Naes @x_driven_x @Greenbaum  I have a question about name change for the petitioner. i have been thinking of not necessarily changing my name but shortening it, which still means a name change. my question is with the K1 VISA process underway for my fiance, when would be a good point in the process for me to do the change change and not affect the process or cause a hiccup or denial. to add additional info, i am the man in the relationship so when my fiance arrives, she will be changing her last name to whatever my last name will be at the time of when she gets here. so that is why it will be good to know when in this visa process would be best to change my last name, would it be now before before we are approved for NOA2 or when she arrives and before we marry or before we file for AOS or after AOS
