Good day! Were Jan filer as well. Is there any movement from Jan filers? 🙂 im new here so i havent read everything.  my fiance was here last month for a short vacation. But of course it would be costly if he keeps visiting cos of this long wait - altho it could add up as proof that we’re really together in case they ask more evidence, right?

No. They are like halfway done with November, and barely scratched December... you got a bit of a wait yet. Averaging about 200 days between NOA1 and NOA2 right now, as a guide.

How do you see the interview times available?

I think this is specific to the country where the Consulate is located unfortunately.  All the information I could find for the US Embassy in London sounded like they schedule your interview for you.  Fit your life around it.  From the US UK Embassy website: " Can’t attend the appointment date scheduled for you by NVC? You are first required to register the assigned appointment date through the Visa Appointment Service website. You must then contact us through our contact form in order to cancel the appointment. Please be aware that you will only be able to select a new date after the scheduled interview date has passed." Yikes! Fortunately my fiance has a flexible schedule but that fact that you can't reschedule until AFTER the assigned date has passed would be painfully annoying.  Drawing the process out any longer than it already is would be heart-rending.

Ok - going to go back to positive thoughts now!

No movement on January yet but it's hard to tell how long it will take.  Some of us are of the mind to visualize the outcome we want and hope for a sooner rather than later NOA2 notice.  Others like taking in the numbers and using that to form their expectations.  Thing is the numbers of days from NOA1 and NOA2 are a bit all over the board.  I have seen cases of NOA2 notification within 162 days of NOA1 (your official receipt date on your initial letter from USCIS.) Others are taking over 200 days.  However we cannot be sure that systems are being reliably updated at USCIS centers (people are receiving silent NOA2s w/o the system updating) and people on VJ don't always update their timeline.  Six months from NOA1 to NOA2 is not unreasonable to hope for (most Jan filers won't hit that until July) though 7 may be more the norm previously.  They have just started on December cases and there is a theory that they are using a new system so no one knows how this will affect things.  Hopefully for the better!

Odd. Twice it says on their Scheduling Your Interview section that NVC schedules it for you and if you can't attend you have to wait to reschedule.  However they are clearly not into updating things as the first page I landed on for the US UK Consulate was that they would be closed for New Year's Day .... 2017 <_<  So could be the old way of doing things?

Thanks Calliope. Were almost on our 5th month. I guess waiting for 2 more months wont hurt. Time flies really fast. (Trying to convince myself haha)

No, that’s because most instructions are based on immigration visas as immigration units are actually handling k1s even though they are not immigration visas.

you should check people who recently went through London as there are many members here. And also know quite many rescheduled too.

Question:

I will be the beneficiary of the k1 visa application and Im only a day old in this forum. I'm planning to move back to my home country in 3 months - family matters. ive read a forum that was posted in 2009 - im not sure if its still reliable. there might be changes in the process already.

upon understanding:

1) does my fiance still have to send a mail to local office of my address update?; or

2) a phone call to hotline will suffice?

thanks a lot!

If you're the beneficiary, then your fiance/petitioner has to worry about which embassy your case gets sent to so you can go to your interview and do your medical.
Your address as a beneficiary is only so that the proper embassy receives your documents for interviews.

If you are now going to move before the interview, then a change needs to be made.
Correct me my girl @Naes but this change for beneficiary address happens at NVC?
I don't believe it can happen before then since USCIS does not change embassy...

To tell the truth, this is a really hard thing to do. I know many that tried and uscis didn’t/couldn’t change beneficiary address.

@JJAN

no phone call won’t help, it needs to be a letter sent to uscis but again I know people tried this but didn’t help (can be tried though no harm in trying), for NVC too they don’t do this change on the phone. It needs to be written form and AFTER case number is assigned (I’m not sure if email suffice but I would think they also want a letter as they told me I probably can’t make it in time)

It normally can be changed at NVC level (not the address but the embassy) BUT on NVC level the time is really limited and when I tried they straightforward said to me “you can try but you will probably end up asking for a transfer after it reaches to the embassy” NVC will send the approved petition to the last physical address written on I-129f. Then you can ask your local embassy to ask for a transfer from the embassy it was sent to (can take 2 weeks to a few months as far as I know).

@Sarac9 is trying to do this at the embassy level right now at NVC stage cause they sent it to the embassy of physical address instead of preferred embassy. I don’t know the outcome so far maybe she can tell us how it’s going so far.

I wrote my congressman last week and asked them to help me get my case adjudicated within the 5-7 month time frame, and they actually called me this  morning and told me they will contact USCIS on my behalf!!!  I was actually surprised they called me back since I just hit 150 days today, hoping they can at least help me get my case adjudicated on time, not expecting early, but I don't want to be one of the many who are waiting over 7 months either. The guy that called me was super nice and said they usually hear back from USCIS within a few days but to give it 30 days if I don't hear back to call their office for follow up. I will be visiting my fiance 7/4-7/16, maybe we will get an approval by then and can celebrate together!!!
