Hello everyone.  First post here.   So, pretty simple story.   Before I did my research, my gf and I decided to get a visa, thinking it was just some basic paperwork and administrative stuff and bam! you get a visa.  Hahahahaha at how naive we were.   So we pay the $100 + dollars, fill out the DS-160 and I was interested to see how this goes.   That's when my heart sank and I read up on it.    We now realize there is basically zero chance she gets it, but we've paid the money and are just going to go through the motions at least to see how this all works.  Does anyone who has been through this process know what the embassy will be asking her or looking for?   Any advice would be great.  Like I said, we both know she's going to get denied, but on that .00005% chance she can get approved, we'd like to figure out how to go about this.

Thanks!

Is she employed? Own property? Other assets? Have other significant ties to Colombia? Plenty of Colombians do get tourist visas. Of course plenty get rejected as well...

No, no and no.  This is why we know it's a pretty lost cause.  But since there are no refunds for the fee, we might as well.   Her family is in Colombia and she is in Uni

If she has no ties not much she can do, it is what it is.

Let us know the result.

Yeah, she was born and raised there, all of her family is there, but that's about it.

Will do.  She goes on the 5/6 of March

She should get a letter from the uni saying she continues to be enrolled there. Under the circumstances it’s probably the best “tie” you’re going to get.
