Adult child - need birth certificate?

I just filed the N-400 online for my spouse.  She has a son who is 30 years old.  I put all his information in the correct place.  When I got to the "suggested documents to bring/upload", it asked for his birth certificate.

He is not immigrating with her.  He has not lived with her since he graduated from high school.  We don't even HAVE a copy of his birth certificate.  Is this something that we need to get in hand before my spouse's interview?  Or is it a "bug" in the online application?

Thanks for any input.

Child birth certificate is just one of the several suggested documents to show the evidences of continual marital relationship during marriage based N400 process. Since your wife’s adult son is not the product of your marital relationship with her, it doesn’t matter and so is not needed. I assume you got plenty of other evidences.

I had a similar question. My husband is filing, I'm a US citizen with 4 children from a previous marriage. Two of them are grown adults.  Do I need to provide birth certificates for ANY of them? Or what type of proof am I supposed to supply?

Is it a case where a statement signed in front of a notary for 2, if not all 4, recommended as evidence acknowledging mine and my husband togetherness? :
"I, so-and-so, born this day xx-xx-xxxx, do not live in the family home as I am an adult. I acknowledge the marriage between my mother Sinthea XXXX and David XXXXXXXXX,  and consider David as my stepfather.  Signed:xxxxxxx (etc.)"
