EAD/AP Estimate >120 Days?

I'm wondering when is a realistic date to expect EAD/AP when we file for AOS next month. Is it a gamble to expect these cards to come in 120 days? It seems to vary greatly and am curious if anyone can shed light on how much of a risk expecting the combo card to arrive in 4 months after filing. My spouse needs to travel this summer back to his home country and after he arrives next month we will do anything we can to make this a reality (trying to expedite after receiving a job offer, etc.), but perhaps it's still risky. Any tactics to ensure this timeline would be appreciated.

Wow you’re the first I’ve seen over 200! Seems like those who filed in october have decent number of approvals, but I see edge cases on here getting stuck for 130+ days. Is this very common lately? Wondering if maybe he should not enter the Us of K1 visa until after summer if it’s a high risk.

Yep, it is a gamble. I know someone who got her EAD in 75 days, another person who got hers in 90 days, and mine took almost 180 and that included an attempt to expedite because of a job offer. I got my EAD 6 weeks after my expedite request.

 you will see lol. And no, don't delay his entry! the backlogs will still be there. The faster he comes in, the faster you guys can marry and the faster you guys apply for I 485, ead ect

Thanks for your reply! EAD taking 6 months sounds insane to me after just waiting over 6 months for a K1 NOA2... Maybe this is too risky for us.

Gosh so many people still waiting!! Thanks for sharing.

We plan on his POE, marriage pretty much the day after, then filing all next month, but since he has to leave the country this summer (at least mid-August) maybe it’s too risky :(

Yeah, it is ridiculous. And there is no way to predict how fast or slow the process will be for you. Some people breeze through it in less than 3 months, and for some it takes forever. I got a crazy RFE (they wanted an English translation of my birth certificate that was in 10 languages, including English...), so that delayed our process by a few weeks, but that doesn't really justify the 6 month wait. I filed in August, applied for a job in November, expecting the EAD pretty soon. I was offered the job just before Christmas, requested an expedite, and it took 6 weeks, a lot of phone calls, and the help of a Senator to finally get my EAD.

If he really needs to travel in summer, and there is no way to postpone his travels, I would seriously consider delaying his entry into the US.

only you can decide what path is right for you. What is the travel for? Is it something that is a MUST or can it be delayed until he gets his combo card? People have already posted the current processing times but they can change at any time (faster or slower). Also the processing time starts when they get your packet. I understand you plan to marry asap but you need the copies of the marriage certificate to submit with the packet. How long to get the certificate depends on your area. Some places have it in as soon as 24 hours some take up to 2 weeks. Filing with in a month of marriage sounds reasonable. Once you file you can apply for an expedite but it may not be approved. If its not and you dont have the combo card to travel how big of a disaster will it be? If huge then you may be better off waiting to enter on the K visa.

If he must travel then delay his entry. He will very likely not have his travel permit.

July 21, 2017 HOME VISIT.  Went well. Topic thread in AOS forum.
Waiting to skip ROC and get 10 yr GC due to over 2 year while pending AOS
AOS APPROVED Oct. 4, 2017 * Green card in hand Oct 13, 2017 !!!!!

First K1 denied after 16 month of AP. Refiled. We are a couple since 2009. Not a sprint but a matter of endurance.

My i485 and i131 have not changed since filing but my i765 now says card mailed.

When did you apply?
I did in August and haven't heard anything since. Others in the same field office as me already have their GC (Who applied 2 months after me)
