Hey, I wanted to share some experience from today's interview. I arrived the about 50 min earlier but waited until my scheduled appointment time. The IO was super nice and even funny! He started with the basic questions and the test which was very fast. I told him about recent citation for using cell phone when driving and provided all the paperwork that fees were all paid for. He seemed happy with that. I was so stressed about all my longer time abroad when back in school and not knowing the dates or many departures, but this subject didn't even came up! I just told him about recent short trip to Mexico, and no international travel in 2018 and that was it! Thanks God.The problem become when he asked date of my divorce. I showed him the papers and it said May 2014, while my 175 case was pending. He said that may be an issue and then asked about 5 questions about my ex and the marriage (mainly his previous marriage surprisingly). Then he left the subject and continued with the yes/no questions. Later he noticed the divorce was finalized in September (I got my GC in June) and so he said I'll be ok:) He said I passed the test and got recommended for approval:)

My interview was simple and fast. We started with the reading and writing tests (they now use tablets, btw) and then proceeded with the civics questions. After that, she verified the information on my application - from name, birth date, parent's citizenship, when my father became a US citizen, address, who I'm living with, my child's birth date, recent travel, work. She checked my passports stamps to verify the travel dates. Then, asked the yes/no questions. After that she told me that I am recommended for approval. 

 

Hoping to be scheduled for the August oath taking!!! I am traveling to Europe end of August and would like to have the US passport then, so I won't have to apply for a Schengen visa. We'll see!

Received an email update this morning that a change has been made on my account. Signed on my account right away and saw that they have scheduled my oath taking. Notice was not uploaded yet at 7AM. I checked again around 10:30 AM and found the N-445 form. Bummed that I'm scheduled for 09/18 but still relieved that it's almost over! Good luck to everyone!

Got an email last night about case activity. Noticed that interview was finally scheduled for both my wife and I! 

 

Was able to see the letter in the documents section around 2pm. We've been scheduled for Sept 11.

Thank you! My Oath is August 14th! I did expect to have the September one so this is great as I am traveling soon. Is it possible to apply for expedited passport at the Oath Ceremony or just for the regular one?

Hi everyone,

 

Wanted to share my oath ceremony experience yesterday. My oath was scheduled at 1:15pm. My husband I took bart and got off at 19th Oakland around 1pm. Once we came out of the Bart station, walked right across the street, and saw a long line of people lining up around the corner, and most of them holding the passport packets.

 

waited outside for about 20mins- yesterday was brutal hot, esp we live in SF and not used to the heat in east bay, so recommend wear hats/sunglasses, there were two separate lines - for applicants and for friends and family.

 

once i got into the theatre, they checked for my info - since I am combo filer and also changed my last name to my married name, the staff asked me if i brought any paperwork that showed that my 751 was approved - luckily I brought the letter which I received couple days after my combo interview saying my green card/751 has been approved. She took the paperwork, and let me in. I was in section 10. not sure how they divide us up but anyhow, we sat down(family and friends are all upstairs), and the ceremony did not start till 2pm.

 

It took around 1 hour for the whole process, then we were called our names to get the naturalization certificate. There were 1355 new citizens coming from 101 countries of origin, pretty impressive.

 

This morning I went to Noe Valley USPS and was planning to apply for a passport, but since I will be going to Canada in 2 weeks, she suggested me going to the passport agency on golden gate ave.

 

I made an appointment online - did anyone else go through the process? Can you take passport photos there? and besides the passport application form, any other paperwork we need to bring?

 

the website review says the cost is around $180..is that right?

Hi guys, I'm from the Bay Area and I have decided to apply for N400. Do you know how long it will take approximately to get an interview for the SF local office. I heard that the estimated times on the USCIS website are not too accurate. I would appreciate an answer :) thank you.

I finally got notification on myuscis that my interview has been scheduled. The appointment letter is not up so I don’t know when it is.

It looks like the timelines in SF are shortening now after the June USCIS communication to spread cases from backlogged centers.  It was getting pretty strange with timelines in San Jose almost half that of San Fran.
