Hi guys! Just an update. I have moved from SF to VA, and did my change of address, and just had my interview on July 13th. It was very fast (27 minutes from walking into the building to leaving the building). The officer was very friendly. I have requested a name change (adding a middle name) so I have to wait for Alexandria court oath ceremony, which will take a few months. They only have them once a month. Still, the hardest part seems to be done :)

6/13/2019 - interview rescheduled to 07/13/2019

7/13/2019 - interview. Approved the same day, online status changed.

Has anyone's wait time/completion time jump back recently? My wait time got extended by a couple months a while ago, but today it jumped back and is now 22 days - earlier than original wait time even. Filed end of August

@Ann2935 this happened to me in May. My completion time at that time was July 2019 (I filed June 2018) and started giving me a countdown of 14 days for the wait time. Then at the end of the countdown, they changed my completion time to August 2019 (to my disappointment) and gave me another countdown of 14 days. I would not rely on their estimation.

Sure!

My interview was for 08:20 and I arrived at 08:00 to be met with a long line. By the time we got in, it was 08:25 but the ladies on the 2nd floor check in didnt mind. I would advise getting in line AT least 40 minutes before, if there is more than 10 people there.

Waited for 15 minutes and was called in. The officer was very pleasant, joking and we talked about the increasing processing times.

Took the oath to give honest answers and he explained the process. Gave him my ID, passport and Green card and he confirmed some biometric info with me.

Asked me if I had my latest tax return (which I did not) and if I was still married and my kids details. I think he was confirming what I had put in my application. My wife and kids are all USC’s.

Asked me 6 questions which I got all correct so didn’t ask any more. Questions were which date the constitution was written, who wrote the federalist papers, one war from 1800’s, number of Representatives, three original colonies and one US territory. I found it easier than most because I love history and some of this is pop culture in the UK.

The longest part was confirming the places I’d visited since my application because their system on has the first destination out of the US. Correcting that took 30 mins.

He asked me to read a sentence then write one and then said he’d be recommending me for approval. He told me the next ceremony for me would be mid August.

The next morning I got the Approval notification in my online account and this morning I got the oath ceremony letter for next month.

One thing I would say is that when I left at 10am the line was HUGE! So definitely make provisions for that.

overall a very pleasant experience with the officer and once the interview is done things move very fast.

Tips would be to dress well, answer honestly (duh!) and be pleasant. All things you would think are obvious.

any questions let me know!

Hi, thanks for sharing. I had a question about correcting the travel abroad dates. Did they needed the exact dates? I have an interview next week. I left many times between 2011 and 2015 because I was in university in Europe and I don't remember any dates anymore. I may be off by weeks, just guessed on my application. Why did it take so long (30min) in your case? Thanks much and congrats!

Any dates before your N-400 application should have been put in your N-400 application.

they only confirm the dates you travelled SINCE your application was filed.

and they have every date down exact. I just needed to tell them the countries I visited. If you fly San francisco to Shanghai, with a two hour stopover in Tokyo, their record shows your destination as Tokyo.

Hi All,

sorry for the delay, was traveling for work this week, and finally got some time to share my experience. Here you go.

I am a combo filer - I751 pending with N400

Interview was scheduled on last Friday July 12th 9:15am. Since it's a combo interview, my husband and I showed up around 9:10. Yes, we were right on time, even got some Noah Bagel on the way. Security check in was easy, and were told to go to 2nd floor. There were only 3 folks in front of us, so we waited for like 2mins. We live in Glen Park, 5mins from the Bart Station, so we took bart to Montgomery, walked 10mins to USCIS office. Recommend taking bart cuz parking can be tricky...

once we got to 2nd floor, waited for another 5mins to check in, the lady said we are a bit late, but she understands the security check could take some time, so no worries. My husband was chatting with the lady, very cool vibe, relaxing...then were told to go to the 3rd floor.

got up on the 3rd floor, wait began, i brought the civic test booklet with me so I had a chance to review it before the interview. After 30-40mins of waiting, finally they called my name.

She first interviewed us for 751 - I brought our joint tax, mortgage and home owner insurances our joint properties(bought two houses, one in STL, one in San Francisco), our joint car insurance, some recent trip photos(she specifically asked me if i brought any photos), then she asked my husband how we met, it was very relaxing vibe, interactive conversation. Then she asked me if I wanted to change my name, I said, yes, I'd like to use my married last name, she said, Ok, then corrected it in the system.

then she said let's start your N400 interview, first civic, questions she asked

- what two parts in congress

- how many house of representatives

- president of WWI - I said Wilson, but cant remember first name, she said she will give me this one since there is only one Wilson:)

- CA Governor

- two holidays

then that was it, writting test - the president lives in the white house, and then she asked me to sign something that has my info, my new name, cell #, etc, then she said, I am approved. Should get a letter in mail to attend August 14th Oath Ceremony in Oakland. We even talked about restaurants in the mission we like, and how we like taking tennis class in the Bay Club, she also asked about my parents, are they still in China, my husband is very chatty, so the whole process was more like a conversation, not interview. She was smiling a lot, and very nice.

today got a text message that oath ceremony has been scheduled - havent got the letter yet and funny thing is my 751 status said new card has been produced...do not know if they are still going to send me a new GC..

the whole process was like 2 hours, including waiting.

Now I am waiting for my oath ceremony letter, and ready to apply for the passport. I recalled someone said that if we have an incoming international trip, we can show the itinerary and ask to expedite. will have to dig out that thread and read more.

Anyway, will share oath ceremony experience once it's done. Good luck to everyone!
