Oh yea, got it. It has to be less than two weeks from your flight schedule.

This passport thing is also stressing me out. I want to travel the soonest I can after getting the citizenship so I'm wondering if I could make an appointment a week before the oath taking and aim for the oath taking date so I could just go to the passport center right after.

Yeah, this was my intent as well. As long as you have your flights booked before you reserve your appointment (they ask for that information when you reserve your appointment) and allow for ample time to get from Oakland to SF, you could very well do this.

It started that they called me by this new name already in, then she right away said I could have used this name already a long time ago and that I wasted my money with this court ruling. She still made a copy of it, but said she would have approved it anyways

She basically didn't want to see anything regarding the name change. She would have gone with the name change request I filled in the application. But I gave the court decree anyways.

So bottom-line: Am still puzzled about this. And not sure if everyone would approve it this way.

@DandelionSF It's interesting that she didn't want to see anything regarding name change and addressed you by your married name. Were you married within the US? Or did you have your name changed on the Drivers license or SSN card previously ? My spouse and I are married outside the US and years back I was able to have my married name on the SSN card and drivers license with just the marriage certificate as proof ( even though not married in the US ). So as of now, my Green card has my maiden name but Drivers license has my married name.

My husband and I just kept their own names; that is also what the certificate reflects. I am listed under my "maiden" name on the marriage certificate. We were married in the US, another state. I never changed my name on the driver's license etc

Perhaps a court order is not required to change your last name if married within the US? Just wondering....

Our combo(I-751/N-400)interview was at 10:30

The interviewer called my name shortly after getting to the waiting area. First She asked me and my wife some questions about my address and my job and she collected all the documents . I gave my wife’s passport and copy of her citizenship certificate and she didn’t even talk about the original. Then she added my daughter on  the file coz she was born after I filed my

I-751.Then she asked me if I want my family to stay in i said yes. she started asking me questions for citizenship, she asked a total of 5 questions only.  Questions number 15, 33, 36, 50, 79. After that she said congratulations to me . That’s it.

It took me 30 minutes.

Good luck to all of you.

I finally have my interview tomorrow in San Francisco. Applied in May 2018 and did a walk in for my biometrics because I was not in the country of the original date. 13 long months later we're finally here!

Sure!

My interview was for 08:20 and I arrived at 08:00 to be met with a long line. By the time we got in, it was 08:25 but the ladies on the 2nd floor check in didnt mind. I would advise getting in line AT least 40 minutes before, if there is more than 10 people there.

Waited for 15 minutes and was called in. The officer was very pleasant, joking and we talked about the increasing processing times.

Took the oath to give honest answers and he explained the process. Gave him my ID, passport and Green card and he confirmed some biometric info with me.

Asked me if I had my latest tax return (which I did not) and if I was still married and my kids details. I think he was confirming what I had put in my application. My wife and kids are all USC’s.

Asked me 6 questions which I got all correct so didn’t ask any more. Questions were which date the constitution was written, who wrote the federalist papers, one war from 1800’s, number of Representatives, three original colonies and one US territory. I found it easier than most because I love history and some of this is pop culture in the UK.

The longest part was confirming the places I’d visited since my application because their system on has the first destination out of the US. Correcting that took 30 mins.

He asked me to read a sentence then write one and then said he’d be recommending me for approval. He told me the next ceremony for me would be mid August.

The next morning I got the Approval notification in my online account and this morning I got the oath ceremony letter for next month.

One thing I would say is that when I left at 10am the line was HUGE! So definitely make provisions for that.

overall a very pleasant experience with the officer and once the interview is done things move very fast.

Tips would be to dress well, answer honestly (duh!) and be pleasant. All things you would think are obvious.

any questions let me know!
